The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
In Judea and Samaria:
Palestinian terrorists throwing “rocks” and Molotovs attacked Israelis at Hawara, Deir Nizam, south of the Police Junction in Binyamin, near Beit Anun, near Kiryat Arba, at Deir Abu Mash’al, Sinjil, Tekoa, and at many other locations. It is important to note that at some of the above locations, such as at Deir Nizam, numerous attacks took place during the day.
The above information comes from residents’ reports to Rescue Without Borders, Rescue Judea and Samaria, and hakolhayehudi.
On the Gaza border:

Marital fallout from the Trump Peace Plan . . .
It was reported yesterday that the wife of prime minister Muhammad bin Rashid of the United Arab Emirates has asked for a divorce because of a disagreement with her husband about Trump Deal of the Century.
Of interest is the fact that the wife is none other than the Jordanian Princess Haya bint Hussein, who happens to be the daughter of former King Hussein of Jordan and his third wife Queen Alia. As such, she is the half-sister of current King Abdullah of Jordan.
By the way, she is the “junior wife” of bin Rashid.
The Palestinians continue their protests . . .
Yesterday was another day of violent demonstrations throughout Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria with Palestinians waving flags and holding placards denouncing the Trump Peace Plan.
Of course, the demonstrators focused their anger on President Trump:
Moments later the effigy was set on fire.
The movement to cancel the September election . . .
. . . seems to be gaining momentum. Former speaker of the Knesset, Yuli Edelstein claims to have found a way to legally accomplish the cancellation that involves:
1) Convening of the Presidium of the Knesset.
2) Cancellation of election holidays.
3) Enacting a law that will enable the cancellation.
Really? Do all the proponents of cancelling the election really believe that the Israel Supreme Court is not going to have something to say about un-dissolving a dissolved Knesset? And enacting a law that will retroactively cancel a decision about the new election?

The Plague of Fires Intensifies:
“A Whole Country is Abandoned”
More fires were set by exploding balloons yesterday in southern Israel than ever before on a single day. 18 fires scorched scores of dumans of agricultural land, nature preserves, and forests in such places as Eshkol, Nir Am area, Kfar Aza, the Black Arrow Monument, Kissufim, Be’eri, Netivot, and Shukda.
And this fire:
And this fire:
And this fire:
You would never have known this watching the Israeli television news last night. For example, on Channel 12 “news”, the sequence of stories was about Edelstein and election cancellation, the release of a Palestinian accused of raping a 7-year-old girl, Jared Kushner speaking in Bahrain, and John Bolton in Jerusalem.
Finally, 38 minutes into the broadcast, 30 seconds were devoted to the fires in the South—another indication of how little the South matters to the rest of the country.
Meanwhile, demonstrators from the South appeared in Jerusalem in front of the PM Netanyahu’s residence for the first time:
Even as protests are beginning to belatedly take place, the terrorists Gaza have become ever more sophisticated:

We will end today’s blog with yet another comment from a resident of the South–this time the head of the Eshkol Regional Council, Gadi Yarkoni:
“Containment policy brings balloon terrorism to the thresholds of our homes. We will not agree that our children’s summer vacation will be filled with smoke and the smell of fires. No citizen would agree to live like this. A whole country is abandoned . . .”
