Idiotic Quote of the Day
“Out of respect for the US congress and the great alliance between Israel and America, we would not deny entry to any member of Congress into Israel.”
Ron Dermer, Israel Ambassador to the United States, declaring that Israel will permit Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib to visit Israel and “the West Bank” in the coming weeks.
What kind of idiocy is this? We are not showing any respect for the U.S. Congress by admitting them.
What is worse is that we will be treated to Omar and Tlaib being welcomed like conquering heroes in Ramallah and taken on a grand Palestinian flag waving tour of the “occupied Palestine”. They will cap this off by praying on the Temple Mount with all the officials of the PLO. All the while, they will be trashing Israel to the international media and expressing their fervent support for BDS.
Your humble servant wrote this two days ago on this blog: “If Israel lets Omar [and Tlaib] into the country, it can only mean that we have lost all self-respect and dignity.”
And so we have.
The News on the Israeli Street
From the Gaza Border:
It was just another day on the Gaza border yesterday with thousands of Palestinians attacking the border fence, trying to kill our soldiers, and attempting to infiltrate into Israel so that they could kill Israeli children, women, and men.
The afternoon began with what appeared to be a sniper incident in which a Palestinian sniper targeted an Israeli military vehicle. Not surprisingly, the IDF spokesman was quick to the podium to say that it really wasn’t a sniper attack but it was an “iron bar” attack–that some terrorist had thrown an iron bar which had damaged the vehicle.
In mid-afternoon, two more fires had been started at Be’eri by explosive balloons launched from Gaza.
By the end of the afternoon, IDF forces had repulsed several infiltration attempts and captured a knife-armed terrorist who had breached the southern border fence.
Meanwhile, the abominable IDF COGAT spokesman was proud to point out that despite all the terror directed against us, we supplied 10 more full, fuel tankers to terrorist Hamas.
From Judea and Samaria:
There was nothing new in Area C. Palestinian terrorists using Molotovs and “rocks” attacked Israelis on the Halhul Bridge, at a point north of Ofra, on Road 446 in Binyamin, and all along the Hevron-Gush Etzion road.
From around the neighborhood:
Iraq: There is still no word on whose plane carried out the bombing raid on the Iranian missile deport at the “Popular Mobilization Forces” camp two days ago that killed a number of Hezbollah and Revolutionary Guard militia.
Iran and the Persian/Arabian Gulf: He said. She said. Did the U.S. shoot down two Iranian drones yesterday or only one? Did the Iranians capture two British-flagged oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz yesterday and today or only one?
Saudi Arabia: King Salman has just approved the stationing of more American soldiers for “protection” purposes.
Lebanon: The word is that Hezbollah is redeploying its forces along the southern border with Israel and along the Syrian border with Israel. The reason? Because its patron, Iran, is beginning to suffer badly from the U.S. sanctions.
Jordan: Now that the Saudis have begun cutting off funds to the Jordanians, the Jordanians are cozying up to Qatar.
A funny Jordanian aside:

There was surprising pushback yesterday against the Jordanian lawmaker Tareq Khuri who urged Jordanian several days ago to blow up the natural gas pipeline running from Israel to Jordan. A fellow lawmaker suggested that he should blow himself up on the pipeline, and another that he bring his family back from the U.S. and have them do it. By the end of the day, Khuri retracted his words and said he was merely speaking metaphorically.
