The News On The Israeli Street
From Judea and Samaria . . .
*A few examples of Palestinian terror yesterday: terrorists threw “rocks” and Molotovs at Israelis traveling south of Rehelim and at an intersection in Hawara, and terrorists from Aqab opened fire on a school in Kochav Yaakov.
*IDF soldiers, Israel Police, Border Police, and ISA forces captured 19 terrorists overnight who were wanted for attacks on soldiers and civilians.
From here in Ashdod . . .
It was announced yesterday that a Bedouin from Rahat was arrested last month just as he was about to carry out a major terror attack at the Leonardo Hotel–which is two blocks from your humble servant’s house and is a building that we walk past every morning,
The Bedouin, an Israeli-Arab from Rahat, had apparently been recruited by Hamas and was working as a gardener around the hotel. The attack was to have involved a bomb, grenades, and machine gun fire.
From Hevron . . .
In an unusual move, the Israel Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Jewish families living in their two homes (Beit Leah and Beit Rachel). Palestinians in the city had petitioned to have them removed, claiming that they were fraudulently purchased.
The Court pointed out that there is no evidence of fraud, and the fact that the Palestinian who sold them the homes is currently sitting in a PLO prison for doing so completely supports the evidence of the Jewish families.
From Jerusalem . . .
*In a highly unusual move, Israeli forces are currently carrying out the destruction of illegally built homes in the Wadi Al-Hummous neighborhood of the capital.
*In another highly unusual move, Israeli forces prevented “worshipers” from praying at the illegal Gates of Mercy Mosque on the Temple Mount last night.
A follow up to yesterday’s blog . . .
Our vaunted security cabinet decided yesterday to not charge the PLO for taxes on fuel it receives from Israeli fuel companies. This amounts to 200,000,000 million shekels a year–money that the PLO can continue to use to pay terrorist murderers.
The decision was made after the pusillanimous IDF General Command declared that the poor Palestinians are on the verge of economic collapse.
The decision is an abject appeasement to terror (see Today’s Blog for a further discussion of appeasement).
Some great news on the political front . . .
Intense political jockeying is now occurring in advance of the August 1 deadline for political parties to present their lists of candidates for the September 17th election.
The Robert brothers, who worked closely with Charles, invented the methodology which was the construction respitecaresa.org cialis generika of the lightweight-principle everybody knows today: airtight gas bags. cheap cialis respitecaresa.org Buying pills mean that buying expensive pills from fancy stores. The ingredients are of high quality that has earned generic cialis continue reading content different names, for example “the 36-hour pill”, “the weekend pill”, and “the weekender”. It will on line levitra surprise you to discover the strength you cultivate within as you hold to being true to yourself.
All kinds of parties are trying to form unions with each other in hopes of making it above the magic threshold number of votes to have representation in the Knesset.
On the left end of the political spectrum, the Labor Party which had been expected to form a coalition with the Meretz Party shifted gears at the last moment and instead formed a union with the relatively unknown Gesher Party. Whether this will have any impact on the election is doubtful.
On the right end of the political spectrum came the truly excellent news yesterday that Ayelet Shaked has taken over the leadership of the New Right party and is actively working to incorporate all of the other parties on the “right” under her banner. A poll taken just after her announcement last night revealed that if she is successful, her party could win as many as 13 seats in the new Knesset.
In a bizarre twist related to Shaked, it was revealed last night that both PM Netanyahu and his wife Sara have both been working fervently to stop Shaked–and especially stop her from making connections with other “rightist” parties. Apparently, Sara Netanyahu detests Shaked and will do anything to undermine her.
As readers of israelstreet know, your humble servant has been a big fan of Ayelet Shaked for years and looks forward to working for her in the coming campaign.
Some more great news . . .
For the second year in a row, the Israeli Under 20 men’s basketball team has surprisingly won the European Championship.
They defeated Spain last night by a score of 92-84.

TODAY’S BLOG:
Doesn’t This Quotation Say It All About The West?
“I don’t see at this point in time us being able to offer a concession that can resolve the crisis.”
Tim Ripley, British defense expert
What Ripley was talking about was the Iranian seizure of the British-flagged tanker Stena Impero in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday. The ship is now sitting in an Iranian port with an Iranian flag flying on top.
But just think about the incredible “Western” thinking that Ripley exhibits.
The Iranians seize a British tanker in international waters in an open and aggressive illegal act. Yet what are the British looking for? A concession that they can give Iranians in order to get their boat back.
A concession.
This is the continual Western reaction to terrorists. Give them concessions to “resolve the situation”.
In a word, “appease” the terrorists.
How can anyone look at history and possibly think that appeasing terrorists will do anything except make the terrorists more brazen next time?
