Photo of the Day
Lovey-Dovey in Ramallah
What’s strange is that Noa Rothman of Ehud Barak’s Democratic Camp is cuddling up with PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas while wearing an extremely revealing (by Muslim standards) see-through negligee dress while Abbas is hugging her tightly (not permitted according to Muslim standards).
Of course it’s not really strange that an Israeli uber-leftist–and the granddaughter of Yitzhak Rabin– would go to Ramallah for a photo op with the head of the PLO. But it is strange how she is dressed and he is hugging her.
By the way, immediately after this photo was made, Abbas cancelled a meeting he was supposed to have had with Republican legislators from the U.S.
Quote of the Day
“This situation is unbearable; the police, ISA, and Population Authority are allowing thousands of illegal Palestinians to enter and live in the cities of Israel–Lod, Ramla, Akko, Shoham, Modi’in, Be’er Yaakov–and we are obliged to provide them and their children welfare services.”
Yair Revivo, Mayor of Lod, following the discovery in Lod of a five-year-old Palestinian girl locked by her illegal Palestinian parents for days in a urine and feces saturated bathroom.

250 new North American immigrants are arriving in Israel today. Included among the 250 are 40 who will be joining the IDF immediately.
Kolakevod to these newcomers!

Changes in the IDF . . .
All of the money being spent in all directions by the Netanyahu government on social programs has left the IDF with a critical budget shortfall.
Just yesterday, the IDF announced that training for reservists has been cancelled because there is no money.
This morning, IDF Chief of Staff Kochavi has announced that 2 entire IDF divisions “will be closed.”
All of this comes as Hezbollah threatened to blow Israel off the map yesterday, Hamas said that in the next war it will launch “hundreds of missiles” at one time against Israel, and the reports from Syria are that Iran has completed a land bridge from Tehran to Beirut to ferry arms to its proxies to be used against Israel.
TODAY’S BLOG:
Netanyahu’s Ongoing Attack on the United Right Party
At first glance, the Likud Party of PM Netanyahu and the United Right Party of Ayelet Shaked and Naftali Bennett would seem to be the most natural of partners. After all, they both supposedly espouse the same ideology and have would seem to have the same goals.
But looking more deeply, we can easily see that the United Right Party is actually a party on the “right” whereas Likud can best be described these days as “center-right.” Whether one is talking about Judea and Samaria, the Temple Mount, the Israeli judiciary, or the so-called “nationalistic laws” passed two Knessets ago, or a hundred other things, the United Right Party is by far the more conservative.
In short, as much as Likud Party members would like to think of themselves as “right,” there are at least 5 political parties (3 of which are in the United Right) which are to their “right.”
But Likud with Netanyahu at the head is determined to keep the “right” description for himself. To that end, before each of the last three elections, he has suddenly gone on the warpath against parties to his right, absurdly claiming that Likud is more “right” than they are. As absurd as that claim is, Netanyahu’s strategy has worked, and he has poached voters away from the parties to his right.
This time around is no different except that personalities are involved. Sara Netanyahu in particular has a personal animus against Ayelet Shaked because she somehow, ridiculously, believes that Shaked was somehow involved in pushing the legal cases against her husband.
So what nonsense have we heard from Netanyahu and his minions today?
From Netanyahu: “Shaked is like Tzipi Livni, bouncing around from one party to another. Who knows where she stands?”
[Shaked has let everyone know where she stands through her words and actions as Justice Minister for the last four years.]
From Netanyahu: “I have no idea if Shaked and Bennett will support me for Prime Minister or Benny Gantz.”
[Shaked has gone on numerous television shows in the last week declaring her support for a Netanyahu-led government].
From Gideon Saar: “Anyone who votes for Shaked is irresponsible because she was unable to get the Jewish Power and Identity parties to join her coalition.”
[Shaked did everything within her power to get Jewish Power and Identity into her coalition. Even Netanyahu tried to do so.]
From the Likud party: “Ayelet Shaked will not support an immunity law that will protect Netanyahu from prosecution should the issue reach a vote in the Knesset.”
[Shaked has not said whether she will support such a law or not. However, even some Likud members have said that they would not.]
And on and on. The hourly attacks are not only unseemly, but also idiotic. Everyone should realize that without a strong United Right Party, there is no chance of PM Netanyahu forming a “right-wing” government.
It is enough to make one wonder if Netanyahu is trying to destroy the “right” parties so he can make a coalition after September with the “left”?
