“Interesting” Tweet of the Day
Whatever . . . it was good news that the Iranian launch went up in smoke without leaving the ground.
The News On The Israeli Street and Today’s Blog
On the Gaza Border:
More than 6000 Hamasniks gathered at various points along the Gaza border fence yesterday throwing Molotovs, “rocks”, grenades, and any other projectiles they could use at our soldiers.
One soldier was wounded by a grenade and had to be evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Beersheva where he listed in “fair” condition this morning.
Elsewhere along the border, a group of 4 terrorists armed with grenades and knives were captured as they tried to infiltrate into Israel.
In yet another incident, a Hamas sniper was shot and killed by our soldiers as he attempted to fire on our troops.
And more “balloons” set more fires yesterday:

All of this, and yet the IDF and our government continually praise Hamas as “the good guys.”
On the Lebanese border:
The situation remains extraordinarily tense as the IDF awaits an attack of some sort from Hezbollah–which has been promised in the next 48 hours.
There is a lockdown at IDF bases; however yesterday, IDF Chief of Staff Kochavi asked mayors of northern towns to remain calm in the face of the imminent danger. In the same speech, Kochavi fell back on the same fake terminology regularly used here in the south: he said that the IDF is working “to change the equation” on the northern border.
The Russians come to the rescue . . .
. . . of Iran. According to multiple news sources, Israeli jets have been turned back from Syria in recent days by Russian jets, and this morning comes the news that the Russians have offered Iranian oil-laded cargo boats a route through the Crimea which bypasses sanctions.

Saeid Mollaei, a former judo world champion who was deliberately forced by his Iranian team to lose a match at the recent World Championship in Tokyo so that he would not have to face Israeli judoka Sagi Muki has decided that enough is enough.
Apparently, he is in Germany with his family and is requesting asylum.
How he got from Tokyo to Germany remains a mystery at this point.
The weekly election news . . .
Election polls in Israel are all over the place, as usual. One poll yesterday has the Blue and White Party surging into the lead against Likud (32-30), while another has Likud and “right” slightly strengthening.
Accusations are flying in every direction with Blue and White Party Chairman Benny Gantz first saying and then denying that his phone has been tapped by “Russians”, PM Netanyahu being forced to issue more denials in Case 4000, and Ayelet Shaked being accused by everyone in Likud of being a “leftie”, etc., etc.
As your humble servant travels around Israel, there is a real sense that Blue and White has momentum; at the very least, they have the most people in the field and the most signage. Of course the same was true back in 2015 and even this past April, but the bottom line is that there really does seem a steadily increasing creep of “Netanyahu fatigue” otherwise known as “ABN“, “Anyone but Netanyahu.”
Having said that, it seems that any attempt to form a left-wing government around the Blue and White Party should they come out first would be doomed to failure without the support of the Joint Arab List.
As regular readers of israelstreet know, your humble servant devoutly wishes that the Parties on the “right” can get their acts together in the next 17 days and pull out a victory on September 17.
