6 Days Until The Election
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza Border:
Palestinian terrorists fired at least 5 missiles at Ashkelon and Ashdod last night.
We say “at least” 5 because no one really knows. The IDF has suppressed information about the attack except to say that two incoming missiles were shot down by the Iron Dome. 5 is the number that have been reported by residents on the ground.
By the way, the missiles hit Ashkelon just as Blue and White Party leader Gabi Ashkenazi was speaking, and Ashdod just as PM Netanyahu was beginning to speak.
In Judea and Samaria:
Palestinian terrorists threw “rocks” and Molotovs at Israeli men, women, and children in such locations Kochav Ya’akov, Zawiya, Al-Aruv, Tekoa, and Luban A-Sharqiya yesterday.
In Hevron, a knife-armed Palestinian terrorist was captured at the Cave of the Patriarchs.
Netanyahu’s meaningless annexation declaration . . .
It was billed by Likud public relations yesterday morning as “the prime minister will make a major announcement at 6:00 this afternoon.”
All day long there was feverish speculation as to what Netanyahu would say.
Then the moment came, Netanyahu spoke, and the collective response was . . . yawn . . .
Netanyahu said that if he forms the next government, then one of his first moves will be to annex the Jordan Valley and the northern part of the Dead Sea.
What we all know by now is that during the last two weeks before any election, Netanyahu goes on “promise tour”. How many times in recent years have we seen him during these weeks out in Judea and Samaria promising Israeli sovereignty? How many times have we heard him promising to build up this Jewish community and that one?
So if you are among the men generic viagra cheap who suffer from a mild form of the disease have garnered so much fame. It is no wonder that the cialis canada cheap are quite different from the branded sex-enhancement pills, the same ingredients are used in the products to execute their functions. When the blood rushes into the penile body, it gets recharge to function well and cause longer erections sufficient for pleasing moments in the generic cialis from india bed.
How many times have those promises been broken?
Every time.
So now we are supposed to believe that if Netanyahu comes out on top in the election, and if he can form a coalition government that goes along with annexation, and if Netanyahu doesn’t backtrack as always in the face of international pressure, then the Jordan Valley will become an official part of Israel.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for all of this to happen.
Bad news from Washington again . . .
It was bad enough that Jason Greenblatt announced his resignation this week as President Trump’s Middle East Negotiator, but yesterday we found out that John Bolton has been fired (or resigned, depending on the story) as President Trump’s National Security Adviser.
Greenblatt and Bolton were two of Israel’s staunchest allies in the government, and they will be sorely missed.
TODAY’S BLOG:
A National And Personal Humiliation
“A Prime Minister being taken off the stage in the middle of a speech because rockets are fired at him is a national humiliation. Hamas has stopped fearing Israel. Israel’s security will be restored by Hamas leaders being eliminated and not by press conferences.”
Naftali Bennett, speaking after PM Netanyahu was rushed from the stage by his security detail during a campaign rally here in Ashdod.
What happened last night is unprecedented.
Palestinian terrorists in Gaza used missiles to target a prime minister of Israel.
After three wars with Hamas during which our government and IDF went to extraordinary measures not to target Hamas and Islamic Jihad leaders, those same leaders brazenly went after our prime minister.
Obviously, Naftali Bennett is right on all counts.
First, it was a national humiliation.
Second, Hamas no longer fears Israel. At all.
Third, Israel’s security will be restored by Hamas leaders being eliminated and not by press conferences.
Almost as embarrassing as the missile attack itself was the governmental and IDF response to the attack. Netanyahu rushed to the Kirya (military headquarters) in Tel Aviv, conferred with his generals, and launched another attack on 15 empty buildings, empty training grounds, empty observation posts, and sand dunes.
Pathetic on top of pathetic.
The entire episode last night was not unlike dogs marking their territory. The dogs are Hamas and Islamic Jihad, and their territory is southern Israel. The two terror organizations served notice to Netanyahu that he was in their territory, and he should get out immediately.
Which he did.
All in all, what happened here in Ashdod last night was a national humiliation for Israel, a personal humiliation for Netanyahu and his utterly failed Gaza policy, and a further indication, as if we needed one, that southern Israel has been thrown to the dogs.
