SHANA TOVAH!
Happy New Year!
We here at OneIsrael hope that the new year, 5780, which begins tonight at sundown brings you health, happiness, and prosperity!
Special Notice
All crossings into and out of Gaza, Judea, and Samaria are now closed until midnight Wednesday. The purpose of the closure is to thwart Palestinian terrorists who might attack during the Rosh Hashana holiday.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza border:
Friday and Saturday were rough days and nights for our soldiers on the border as thousands of Hamasniks flocked to the border to try to kill them. Molotovs, IEDs, grenades, and projectiles of all types were thrown and exploded:
This is a blurry photo, also taken by Hamas, of an IDF jeep that was set on fire by Molotovs:
In Judea and Samaria:
*The Palestinian murderers of Rina Shnerb have been captured according to information released this morning by Israel’s Shin Bet. As you may remember, Rina was blown apart as she walked to the Ein Bubin Spring near Dolev last month.
All three of the murderers are members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
*There is a general mistaken impression that an impenetrable wall exists between Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria, and Area C.
In reality, most of this wall is no wall at all. It consists of wire, and is wholly porous. Every time that Israel has a closure of crossings due to a holiday, hundreds of Palestinians illegally flood through.
Here is the spot near Tulkarm where such an “invasion” took place yesterday:
In essence, the IDF is spread too thinly without nearly enough soldiers to patrol crossings like this one. It takes one second to hop over the fence or simply to snap the lock on the gate.
How many terror attacks will be perpetrated by those who crossed the fence yesterday?

The New Year’s Timeline: Election and Indictments?
Over the next few months, there will be two major stories (at least) in constant competition with each other: the attempt to form a government and the impending possible indictment(s) of PM Netanyahu.

By all accounts, PM Netanyahu will announce his failure to form a coalition government today and return his mandate to do so to President Rivlin. In your humble servant’s opinion, the last few days of continued fruitless discussions Netanyahu’s Likud and Benny Gantz’s Blue and White Party have been nothing short of ridiculous.
Nothing seems to have budged as both sides seem hell-bent on new elections, again.
Here is our best guess of the timeline of coming events as we head in the new year that begins tonight:
September 29 (today): Netanyahu returns mandate to Rivlin.
Some time between September 29-October 3: Rivlin tasks Gantz with forming a government.
October 2-3: Netanyahu’s pre-indictment hearing in Cases 1000, 2000, and 4000 takes place -with a possible extension until later in October. The possible charges include bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.
October 3: The new Knesset is sworn in.
October 28-31: The deadline for Gantz to form a new government (28 days from the time he is tasked by Rivlin).
Some time between the last week in October and the first week in November: Mandelblit is supposedly going to announce his decision on an indictment or indictments.
November 1-21: Assuming Gantz fails to form a government, during this three week period, any member of the Knesset can attempt to form a government by getting the endorsement of 61 Knesset members.
The end of November: If no one succeeds in forming a government, a third election will be called for January or February.
So, as you can see, many events are taking place. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. 5780 will begin with a number of bangs!
