The saga of Nirit Zamora comes to a good end . . .
Perhaps you recall the incredible story of Nirit Zamora, but if not, allow your humble servant to refresh your memory.
The mother of eight children, Nirit was shopping at the Gush Etzion Mall back in October of 2015.
A terrorist suddenly charged at her from the rear yelling Allahu Akbar! The terrorist proceeded to stab Nirit repeatedly in the upper back near her neck. He stabbed so hard that the knife handle actually broke off leaving the blade in Nirit’s back.
After complex surgeries, Nirit recovered. However at trial, in the military court, the judges incredibly refused to try the terrorist for attempted murder because they said could not be proved that the terrorist intended to kill Nurit.
Why couldn’t that be proved according to the preposterous judges? Because the terrorist used a knife that broke off in Nirit’s neck. The judges outrageously ruled that if the terrorist had really wanted to kill her, he would have used a larger butcher knife. Part of the judges’ incredible ruling was that it could not be determined that “the terrorist knew that a knife could kill.”
They sentenced him to 14 years for “aggravated intention to cause harm.”
The hue and cry from this egregious miscarriage of justice never went away and yesterday, the decision of the court was reversed by the Ofer Military Court of Appeal which convicted the terrorist of attempted murder.

Judge Nathaniel Benisho, president of the Court of Appeal, scolded the previous court for its ruling and declared that common sense informs us that the fact that the knife broke during repeated stabbings had nothing to do with a lack of intent to murder.
It may have taken nearly four years to get to this point, but yes, Virginia, there is justice in this world after all.

Trump’s Turkish Decision:
“The Lesson For Israel Is Simple”
At this point, no one should find it surprising when President Trump keeps a campaign promise, yet Israel seemed shocked yesterday at the Trump decision to remove American soldiers from the buffer zone in northern Syria.
The general feeling here is that Trump has abandoned the Kurds though Israel should have little to say on the subject since Israel sold attack helicopters to Turkey in the past which were used to attack the Kurds.
In any case, Naftali Bennett perhaps summed up best what implications the move has for Israel in this tweet:
“At this time we, Israelis, pray for the Kurd People who are under a brutal Turkish attack.
The lesson for Israel is simple:
Israel will ALWAYS defend itself by itself.
The Jewish state will never put its fate in the hands of others, including our great friend, the USA.”
Bennett is absolutely correct. The simple lesson for Israel is that we must never count on others to defend us; we must be ready and willing to do it ourselves.
Annual OneIsrael Campaign Update:
Back at the beginning of September, we announced the beginning of our annual fund-raising campaign for OneIsrael. Our goal is $5000 which we intend to use to upgrade our website, to apply for non-profit status in the U.S., and to create an educational component on our site.
Thus far, we are 80% toward that goal having received some $4000 in donations. We thank you who have already donated, and ask again that those of you who have not to please click on one of the donate buttons on this page.
