Perverse Quote of the Day
“If Europeans continue their untenable conduct or send Iran’s nuclear case to the United Nations Security Council, we will withdraw from the N.P.T.”
Mohammed Zarif speaking yesterday about a possible Iranian withdrawal from the nuclear proliferation treaty.
How can you withdraw from a treaty which you expressly violated?
In case you missed it dear reader, one of the items that Mossad found in the raid on the Iranian repository of information about its nuclear weapons program was a document showing that Iran was working on missiles to carry nuclear warheads as far back at 2002 and tested its nuclear warhead design on top of Shahab-3 missiles in 2009.

TODAY’S BLOG:
Kolakevod Ateret Cohanim!
What the once-barren hill looks like today as Silwan has greatly expanded to the south:
One of your humble servant’s favorite organizations is Ateret Cohanim which wages a tireless battle one building at a time to redeem Jewish property in eastern Jerusalem.
Yesterday morning, Ateret Cohanim won another victory when the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court ruled that a building in the Kfar HaShiloah must be evacuated by the Nasser Al-Rajabi that has squatted there for the last 72 years.
The Al-Rajabi family which now consists of 22 members moved into the building when its Jewish owners were kicked out when Jordanians took over eastern Jerusalem following the War of Independence.
The land on which the building sits is part of the land purchased for Jewish immigrants from Yemen in the 19th century.
This ruling yesterday is just the first step in what is sure to be a long process of eviction. According to the Court, the Al-Rajabis have until July 1 to evacuate the premises. On top of that, the Al-Rajabis will undoubtedly will appeal to the Israel Supreme Court. Other appeals concerning other properties have taken as long as a decade to finally resolve.
Hence my use of the word “tireless” above in describing Ateret Cohanim.
It is also important to note that Ateret Cohanim has identified 35 more buildings, currently housing around 700 more squatters, that sit on the land that was purchased for the Yemenites. In the coming months and years, the ownership of each one of these buildings will be adjudicated in court.
In the meantime, let us say here one more time: Kolakevod to Ateret Cohanim!
