Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Palestinian terrorism never shows any signs of abating.
On the Gaza border this evening at 7:38 pm, another missile (or missiles) was fired at Sha’ar Hanegev. The IAF is currently hitting empty buildings and sand dunes in Gaza in retaliation.
Explosive balloons have struck such places as Sderot, Lachish, Chof Ashkelon, Nahal Oz, and Kibbutz Ruhama. From the one that landed at Ruhama, we see the continuing sophistication of the “balloon” explosives:
This is the second time within a couple of weeks that balloons equipped with RPG projectiles have landed in southern Israel.
Palestinian riots continue apace in Judea and Samaria with one of the worst ones at Azzun where hundreds of Palestinians threw “rocks” and Molotovs at our security forces. Elsewhere, terrorists were wounded in Tulkarm, Jabaliya, Jenin, and Bethlehem.

The soldier who was run over and critically wounded at the old train station in Jerusalem has experienced “slight improvement” in his condition. He is still anesthetized and in the ICU.
A game changer? . . .
Is a game changer at hand, or rather in hand? Two nights ago, Israeli television reported that a laser system is already being deployed along the Gaza border to shoot down “explosive balloons”, drones, and other items emanating from Gaza.
By all accounts, it has been quite successful, but has yet to be deployed all along the border.

What has happened to Ehud Olmert? Here he is in a friendly embrace with his new best friend, Mahmoud Abbas.
The outpouring of criticism of the Trump Peace “Vision” has been totally unsurprising up to a point. The European Union, the United Nations, the Arab League, the PLO, 100 Democratic congressmen, J Street, and a host of others could have been expected to trash the Peace Plan from the outset because all of them will do anything to trash Israel.
But why does your humble servant say “up to a point”?
Because now it turns out that former PM Ehud Olmert is planning to hold a joint press conference with PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in the coming days. In that press conference, Olmert will support Abbas’s denunciation of the plan.
This is the same Olmert whose peace plan was rejected by Mahmoud Abbas back in 2007-8. In that sorry episode, Olmert was willing to give away virtually all of Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem to the PLO–but even then, Abbas rejected the offer.
Later in an attempt at revision, Abbas first said that no offer was actually made. Unfortunately for him, one of the Wikileaks documents showed that Abbas’s declaration was an outright lie.
Now, Abbas and Olmert claim that Abbas was actually on the cusp of approving the plan, but Olmert was forced out of the prime ministership (by corruption that he was convicted and imprisoned for) and replaced by Netanyahu.
But for Olmert–who counts himself as one of Kahol and Lavan’s senior advisers–to go to Ramallah and support the Palestinians against the Peace plan is beyond the pale and smacking of national treachery.
What exactly is Olmert opposed to? Palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish country? Disarmanent of Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza? Cessation of payments to Palestinian murderers in prison?
To top it all off, the delusional Olmert came out yesterday and attempted to remove blame from Abbas for the recent outbreak of violence in Jerusalem and elsewhere: “Did Abu Mazen (aka Abbas) personally attack anyone? What happened, I don’t understand.”
Say what?
Of course, Abbas personally encouraged the attacks. We have only to look back at the video at the top of this blog today to see one way that he did.
In sum, what is there to say about Ehud Olmert?
His version of Trump and Netanyahu derangement syndrome has pushed him over the edge into utter lunacy.
