Most of the news today is about the election that will begin 11 hours from now. The last 24 hours has seen an extraordinary amount of mud-slinging in all directions.
On the one hand we have had Yair Lapid, one of the 4 heads of the Kahol Lavan Party, calling the Sephardic community “feces.” We have even had a senior Likud advisor secretly recorded while impugning the same community by saying it is motivated to vote by “hate.”
We will find out within the hour if the Jewish Power Party will drop out at the last minute supposedly providing a right coalition with a better chance of reaching 61 seats. Your humble servant highly doubts that Jewish Power will get out of the race.
And we have had Avigdor Lieberman singing the same old song that he won’t be in a coalition with Netanyahu and he won’t be in a coalition that includes the Joint Arab List.
In the meantime, the Corona panic continues with more than 5000 people who have returned from travels abroad being asked to remain in isolation. The concern about corona has become front and center in the election as well with the government setting up special voting stations for people concerned about catching the virus:

As election preparations continue being made, Palestinian violence continues permeating Judea and Samaria. The worst attack today came at Al-Abud:

Unfortunately the person in the front passenger seat, a 35-year-old woman, was badly wounded in the face and torso and is currently hospitalized in “extremely serious” condition. This was one of several dozen attacks today.
Meanwhile, what is happening in northern Syria has the region on the verge of a wider war.
Essentially we have Turkey pitted against the Syrian, Iranians, Iranian proxies such as Hezbollah, and the Russians.
In the last two days, a Turkish response to the killing of 34 of their soldiers in Idlib has resulted in a Syrian commander and 2 Hezbollah commanders being killed. In addition, Turkey claims that it killed 309 Syrian soldiers.
In return, a famed Turkish general, Halil Savisal (nicknamed “the Black Claw”) was assassinated yesterday.
This was followed by Turkish jets shooting down two Syrian jets yesterday. In response this morning, Iran threatened to start firing missiles at Turkish positions unless they cease attacks.
