The daily Corona update . . .
There is some dispute at this hour about how many Israelis have tested positive for Corona–a few hours ago the Health Ministry said that there are 344 confirmed cases; an hour later, it said that there are 255–as you can see in the breaking news above, the 9 pm number is 277. Whichever the case, four people are in critical condition.
Miraculously, there have been no deaths so far; unfortunately, this may soon change as there has been an outbreak at a senior citizen complex in Jerusalem. As you may not know, the Israeli elderly population is extremely dependent on caretakers from abroad. Whereas the elderly are self-quarantined, the caretakers are not–and often go into public places to buy food and medications for those they take care of. You can easily see where this may soon lead.
Israel is in the process of completely closing down. Shopping malls, restaurants, and cinemas are in a gradually increasing lockdown. Part of the lockdown as you know is at Ben Gurion Airport. Where only a month ago more than a hundred airlines were flying in and out of Ben Gurion, there are now only 34. 6500 flights have been canceled.
The battle begins in the Knesset . . .
As we have predicted, following Benny Gantz receiving a mandate to form a government (see Today’s Blog below), his Kahol Lavan (Blue White) Party has made a move in the Knesset today to replace Yuli Edelstein as Knesset speaker.
Edelstein has thus far refused, issuing this statement this morning:
“The law does not require me to bring the request for Knesset Speaker to the Knesset’s opening session. I have no intention of delaying the debate on the matter for weeks, and I am not stuck in the chair I have been in for seven years. Urgent political moves, such as electing a permanent Knesset chairman and passing controversial legislation, aim to shut down the possibility of unity that the people want.”
After this statement, the Yisrael Beiteinu Party has tried to push a secret vote on ousting Edelstein who has subsequently said that if the push proceeds, he will take the matter to the Israel Supreme Court.

In case you missed it, PM Netanyahu’s trial on Cases 1000, 2000, and 4000 has been postponed from March 17 to May 24 because of the Corona virus.

Gantz Joins The Terrorists
Look closely at this blurry picture. Here you see Ahmed Tibi, one of the heads of the Joint Arab List, mockingly flashing the V for victory sign at members of the Bereaved Families Association outside of President Rivlin’s house yesterday. If Gantz is allowed to form a minority government, the terrorists will have indeed won.
This is the critically dangerous situation in which Israel now finds itself. Benny Gantz has been given a mandate to form a government by President Rivlin because he has 61 recommendations. Included in those 61 recommendation are 15 coming from the Joint Arab List—an anti-Zionist group that prides itself on its daily verbal attacks against Israel and brazen support for Palestinian terrorists.

Can you imagine that an attempt is being made by Gantz to form a government with Israeli-Arabs who self-identify as Palestinians and support Palestinian terrorists who want to destroy Israel?
Within that 15 in the Joint Arab List are 3 recommendations from Balad–the most extreme of the Arab Parties. Up until yesterday, Balad said that it would never support any Israeli government coalition, but it backtracked in the afternoon after being ordered to by the PLO in Ramallah and Hamas in Gaza after Gantz pledged that there will be no annexation of any areas in Judea and Samaria, no declaration of sovereignty over those areas, and complete support for the Islamic Wakf on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
We have an unbelievable situation in which the PLO and Hamas are dictating terms for Israel government formation.
This has been a day long in coming–a day spurred ever onward by an ultra-leftist Israeli media determined to obliterate every Zionist pillar of society.
It is a day which has been brought about by decades of “educational” courses undermining Israel in public schools and the IDF–courses funded by hundreds of millions of shekels coming from such organizations as the New Israel Fund.
The purpose of these courses has been to normalize the enemy. The purpose of these courses has been to turn terrorists into victims. The purpose of these courses has been to mainstream anti-Zionism into all walks of Israeli life.
Is it any surprise that what we have seen happen today has been spearheaded by three former heads of the IDF: Benny Gantz, Moshe Ya’alon, and Gabi Ashkenazi?
How many times have you read on this blog about how the IDF first embraced the PLO after Oslo and Hamas in the years since?
How many times have you read here about how the IDF informs Hamas before it attacks sand dunes and empty buildings in Gaza?
How many times have you read here how the IDF falsifies information about missile strikes on southern Israel?
How many times have you read here how Benny Gantz exposed his soldiers to intense rocket and machine gun fire during the war in 2014 because he refused to attack terrorists?
Gantz, Ya’alon, Ashkenazi and Avigdor Liberman of the Yisrael Beiteinu Party–are all outright liars. They all declared they would never try to form a majority or minority government with the Joint Arab List:
Avigdor Liberman speaking on February 14–“Yisrael Beitenu will not sit and will not cooperate, directly or indirectly, with terror supporters, including the Joint Arab List.”
Moshe Ya’alon, speaking two weeks ago–“I will only sit with the Joint Arab List if Balad is excluded.”
And yet here we are.
On an exceedingly black day in the history of the state of Israel.
Let us hope that some way can be found to thwart Gantz and the terrorists.
