The Sadly Correct Quote of the Day
“‘For these things I weep; my eyes flow with tears. For there is no one nearby to comfort me, no one to revive my soul. My children are destitute because the enemy has prevailed.’ I did not fear in vain.”
A tweet today from Elihai Ben-Yishai, the mother of Ruthie Fogel who was gruesomely murdered along with her husband and three children (the youngest was decapitated) in a March 2011 terror attack in Itamar. It incorporates a section Lamentations 1:16.
Elihai was lamenting the sickening events of the day in the Knesset (see below).

Queen Esther:
Wielding Total Power Over The Knesset and Prime Ministership
It is not too much of an exaggeration that yesterday witnessed the beginning of the end of the Zionist state of Israel. It is an end which has been devoutly hoped for by the Israeli left for decades. It is an end that has been craftily engineered by the current Israel Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Ester Hayut.
What happened was that Hayut gave Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein an order that he had to permit an election for a new Knesset Speaker by Wednesday or answer to her (aka the Court).
Why did Hayut issue the order? So that the Knesset can enact anti-Netanyahu legislation that would prohibit him from forming a government.
Queen Esther’s demand set in motion a series of events:
1. Edelstein was forced to allow the Knesset to vote on creating a new Arrangements Committee.
2. The Knesset voted 61-0 to create the committee. It named a member of Gantz’s Kahol Lavan Party as chair and ensured that Kahol Lavan had a majority. The 58 members of the “right block” refused to vote.
3. The Arrangement Committee immediately moved to create other “temporary” committees. Not surprisingly but outrageously, the Joint Arab List which includes the overtly terrorist Balad Party was put in charge of the Labor, Welfare, and Health Committee. This committee is in charge of helping treatment of terror victims and wounded IDF soldiers.
Think about this for an Orwellian moment. The very party that supports Palestinian terrorism against Israeli civilians and soldiers is now in charge of dealing with the victims of that terror. It is beyond absurd and a death knell for Zionism if allowed to proceed.
It is worthwhile remembering once again that it was Esther Hayut who led the drive to approve Balad appearing on the ballot earlier this month.
4. Yuli Edelstein subsequently resisted the order from Queen Esther noting that it seems to violate the separation of powers between the branches of the Israeli government.
5. Almost instantaneously, Queen Esther (in an obviously pre-written response) fired back saying among other things:
“The continued refusal to allow the Knesset to vote on the election of a permanent Knesset Chairman undermines the foundations of the democratic process.”
Undermines the foundations of the democratic process?
Here we have the unelected Queen Esther dictating terms to the elected Speaker of the Knesset.
6. Tonight, Edelstein and PM Netanyahu are meeting to determine Edelstein’s final response to the Queen.
So now, we have the ridiculous situation in which the Left has a stranglehold over the Knesset which operates according to dictates of the Israel Supreme Court. With the likes of Balad controlling what happens, we have entered a sad era in the history of the state of Israel.
