The News on the Israeli Street
10 pm Tuesday: There are now 15,555 confirmed cases of Corona in Israel. 96 people are on ventilators. 204 Israelis have died. 7,200 have recovered.
If you have been watching the Corona numbers in the last week, you have seen that fewer confirmed cases are being reported. The reason is that the demand for the tests has dropped.
Also the number of Israelis on ventilators has dropped, and the number of Israelis who have died is only incrementally increasing. On the other hand the number who have recovered has steeply increased until it is now almost half of all confirmed cases.
One of the most recent deaths was particularly sad. Patient 200 was a senior nurse who worked at Sheba Hospital for 45 years. Beloved by all, the nurse was serving in the Corona ward. She was described yesterday as a “pillar of the hospital.” Your humble servant would mention her name, but her family has asked that her wish to remain anonymous be honored.
Another Corona case from northern Israel is especially distressing. An 11-year-old girl, who was staying with her family at the Kineret-Corona hotel contracted the virus this past Friday. Immediately hospitalized at the Peda-Furia Medical Center with high fever and vomiting, her situation has deteriorated. Yesterday she was anesthetized and put on a ventilator. This morning she was transferred to Rambam Hospital where she needs your prayers. Again, her name is being withheld by authorities.

Still another sad Corona story is a tragedy from the Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem where one of the oldest booth operators in the shuk committed suicide this morning because he was facing bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, all you have to do is look at the highways to see that life in Israel has almost returned to normal. Here’s another photo from the Rishon LeZion-Tel Aviv freeway yesterday:
TODAY’S BLOG
The Attack Last Night In Syria
Today’s blog is a short one just meant as a reminder.
If you have Israeli television, you have spent the day watching one tragic story after another of soldiers killed in battle defending Israel–most of whom were killed in the flower of their youth.
You have also seen story after story of Israelis who were murdered by Palestinian terrorists.
Every Israeli killed or murdered died for Israel. They put their lives at risk–either by serving in the IDF or just living on the front lines against terrorism–so that the rest of us might live.
Which brings us to what happened last night.
What do we know about what happened near Damascus?
Not much except that Iran was apparently trying to arm the Syrians and Hezbollah with more sophisticated weapons with which to kill Israelis.
And we know that brave Israeli pilots put their lives on the line once again to see that the Iranians do not succeed.
