The Amazing Photo of the Day (Night):
We must thank Miki Spitzer for one of the most amazing photos you will ever see of a meteorite crossing over the Milky Way galaxy:
Your humble servant has often been witness to marvelous Negev night skies while driving from Mitzpe Ramon to Eilat–nights so bright that we could turn off the lights on our car and drive by the light reverberating in the many canyons along the road. But I have never seen a sight like the one above.
Yet.
The News on the Israeli Street
The daily Corona update . . .
*5 am Thursday: There are now 16,665 confirmed cases of Corona in Israel of whom 13,574 have recovered. 40 people are on ventilators. 279 Israelis have died.
*The last patient from the Corona ward at Soroka Hospital in Beersheva was released yesterday, and the unit was closed.
*El Al continues to struggle issuing this statement yesterday: “In light of the government guidelines issued on May 19 concerning incoming passenger restrictions for Israelis and prohibiting foreign entry into Israel [as well as] the low demand for passenger flights, El Al has decided to extend its temporary cessation of flights until June 20, 2020.”
*The world continues to look to Israel as a model for Corona detection and treatment. Yesterday the Greek Tourism Minister announced that Israelis will be able to enter Greece “without quarantine or testing starting June 15.”
Even more remarkable was the announcement by the government of the Seychelles. A day after announcing that that there would be no tourism at all to the country until the end of 2021, it amended the declaration to say that Israelis, and Israelis only, will be permitted to travel and tour the Seychelles starting early this summer.
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
*Palestinian terrorists opened fire on an Israeli driving a car near Huwara yesterday. In his car were two minors, aged 14 and 15. The terrorists finally fled when the driver got out of his car and fired back, hitting one terrorist in the leg. Fortunately, no Israelis were physically wounded, but the terrorists escaped.
*There were numerous “rock” and Molotov attacks such as the assault on a bus between Yitzhar and Gilead which resulted in traumatized passengers and a shattered windshield.
*Palestinian arsonists were “at work” during the day. Click here to see a video taken by a security camera near Shiloh of a Palestinian terrorist getting out of his SUV, pouring gas onto nearby vegetation, lighting the fire, then throwing more on the fire.
A follow up to Abu Mazen’s “announcement yesterday . . .
Just as we observed yesterday, there is no evidence whatsoever that the PLO is in any mood to reduce security cooperation with Israel because of Israeli plans to declare sovereignty over parts of Area C of Judea and Samaria.
This morning PLO “Prime Minister” said that the PLO would soon begin to take steps “to implement the decision to halt relations with the U.S. and Israel.” He did not set forth any timeline for doing so.
The “shorts” rebellion . . .
In the midst of the searing heat wave, a group of female students were denied entrance to their middle school in Ra’anana several days ago because they were wearing short pants that according to school official were unacceptably short.
They immediately began a protest which has spread throughout the country to such places as Kfar Saba and Gedera. In the latter location, 150 girls were initially denied entrance to school yesterday, but were finally admitted after a three-hour standoff.
The chant that has arisen is “They won’t break us, we demand equality.” As you may not know, boys are allowed to wear shorts to school.
Your humble servant has only one thing to say: “Go girls!” Take a look at any photos of the early female Zionists who worked in the fields and helped build modern Israel. What were many of them wearing?

Immigration to Israel continues . . .
Amazingly, despite the Corona restrictions, new immigrants continue arriving here almost daily.
Today, 119 Ethiopian immigrants are arriving by a specially chartered flight. This past week 111 immigrants came from the Ukraine, and 41 more from Russia.
TODAY’S BLOG:
The Final Solution
The above graphic appeared on Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s twitter feed two days ago. You will recall that Khamenei is the Iranian leader that U.S. President Barack Obama sickeningly bowed to and repeatedly and adoringly called “Supreme Leader.”
You will note in the above graphic how the Palestinian flag is being raised in “Jerusalem” along with placards adorned with the likenesses of Ayatollah Khomeini and Qassem Soleimani.
We all know what “the final solution” refers to–and to make sure we get the point–note that the graphic is in English.
Never more can any Western leader pretend that he or she does not know what the Iranians’ ultimate goal is.
Never more can any Western leader pretend that he or she does not know how rabidly anti-Semitic the Iranian government is.
Never more can any Western leader pretend that the Iranians really do not intend to destroy Israel and therefore we must engage in a nuclear weapons appeasement agreement with them.
It is all there for the world to see.
In plain English.
Outrageously, Khamenei said yesterday that he didn’t intend to suggest that all Jews should be killed–merely that all Israeli Jews should die. This reminded me of several years ago back in California when the imam at the local Mosque ranted from his pulpit that Jews should be killed. Later he met at our local synagogue and assuaged the local rabbi and other idiots by saying that he really wasn’t talking about all Jews–just Israeli Jews.
Thankfully there was one person who almost got it right yesterday and that was U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who declared: “Khamenei’s crazy and anti-Semitic rhetoric does not represent the tolerance of the Iranian people.”
Pompeo is right about the craziness and anti-Semitism, but your humble servant is not sure about the tolerance of the Iranian people every time he sees hundreds of thousands of them in the street burning Israeli and American flags and chanting “Death to Israel” and “Death to America.”
PM Netanyahu was even more to the point as he tweeted this in response to Khamenei: “Khamenei’s threats to implement the “Final Solution” against Israel are reminiscent of the Nazi “Final Solution” plan for the destruction of the Jewish people. He must know that any regime that threatens Israel with extermination will find itself in similar danger.”
Meanwhile the low-level war between Israel and Iran continues with Israel cyber-striking an Iranian port after Iran had attempted to cyber-strike the Israeli waer system. As for the U.S., Treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin announced more banking sanctions on Iran yesterday.
Just remember.
The final solution.
