The “Stupidest” Quote of the Day
“Turkey and Israel do not have to agree on everything . . . Covid-19 and other challenges, however, might work in favor or normalizing relations.”
Roey Gilad, Israel’s charge d’affaires for Turkey
It’s hard to imagine how a comment could be more stupid.
PM Erdogan is and always has been one of the most anti-Semitic people on the planet. Whether he is sending fauxtillas to Gaza, or inciting the Arab population of eastern Jerusalem against Israel, or sending delegations of Turks to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem to urge the elimination of Israel, or withholding medical supplies from Israel in the current Corona pandemic, Erdogan has proven time and again that he is no person to be friends with–and Turkey is no country to normalize relations with.
But apparently none of the above bothers our new FM Ashkenazi whom Gilad cited as a reason for a possible normalization.
How quickly Israel moves to the idiotic “Left.”
The Vilest Quote of the Day
“[Khamenei’s comments] were totally unacceptable and represent a deep source of concern.”
European FM Josep Borrell responding yesterday to Iranian leader Khamenei’s “final solution” graphic and Khamenei’s “the Zionist regime is a deadly, cancerous tumor in the region…[which] will undoubtedly be uprooted and destroyed” comment.
Totally unacceptable? A deep source of concern? Everyone knows that Borrell and Khamenei are bosom buddies, and that Borrell’s opinion about Israel is closely aligned with that of Khamenei. Hardly a day goes by that Borrell does not castigate Israel.
The News On The Israeli Street
The daily Corona update . . .
As of 8:00 am this morning, there are 16,712 confirmed cases of Corona in Israel. 36 Israelis remain on ventilators; 279 Israelis have died, but 14,090 have recovered. There remain 2,622 active cases in the country.
The Corona numbers continue to look better–but we are not counting our chickens before they hatch. Just yesterday, another resident of the nursing home in Beersheva where 14 people died was diagnosed with Corona.
Also yesterday, more than 100,000 Israelis went out into nature and to the beaches–so many that the parks, beaches, and roads had be closed when they reached the maximum number of people as determined by the Health Ministry.

MADA (Magen David Adom) has had more to worry about in recent days than the Corona virus. As we have blogged, Israel has been suffering from an intense heat wave. Yesterday alone:
*MADA received 1900 calls for help.
*1,126 of these calls were from people suffering from dizziness and weakness.
*570 of the 1900 calls were to help people who had fainted.
*134 of the calls were from people suffering from extreme dehydration.
*19 calls were to treat heat-related “injuries”.
*2 of the calls involved people who had died from a heat stroke.
In regard to this last number, more people died from heat strokes in Israel yesterday than of Corona.
TODAY’S BLOG
Today Is The Big Day That The Israeli Left Has Waited For
They couldn’t beat him in 2009. They couldn’t beat him in 2013. They couldn’t beat him in 2015. They couldn’t beat him in April 2019. They couldn’t beat him in September 2019. And they couldn’t beat him in March of this year.
But the Left switched tactics along the way. If they couldn’t defeat Netanyahu at the ballot box, they turned to slinging mud at Netanyahu hoping that something would stick.
Working with their friends in the Israel media who have mounted a nonstop 10 year attack on Netanyahu every night on television, and their friends in the Israel Police who have provided one leak after another of supposed wrongdoing for years, the Left finally succeeded in getting 3 indictments lodged against the prime minister last year.
Today at 2:00 pm, when Netanyahu enters District Court in Jerusalem to listen to the indictments read against him, the Israeli “Left” will be standing and cheering.
It is indeed a sad day in Israel when a prime minister can be hauled before a court and charged with one specious charge after another. But, in fact, it is not a sad “day”; what we have coming is a trial that will minimally last for at least 2 or 3 years. And, if Netanyahu is found guilty of any of the ludicrous charges against him in Cases 1000, 2000, and 4,000 which he almost certainly will, the appeal process could also go on for who knows how many more years.
To put all of this in a different way, we could be sitting in the year 2026 with no final dispensation of the cases against Netanyahu.
As regular readers of OneIsrael know, your humble servant is no fan of Benjamin Netanyahu but much more so, I am no fan of the perverted Israeli judicial system which rests in the hands of uber-leftists.
As I suggested above, Netanyahu will almost certainly be found guilty of one or more of the charges whether there is sufficient evidence or not. One only has to look at the recently concluded 2-year kangaroo trial of Amiram Ben Oliel to read the tea leaves.
