Amazing News of the Day

Shadi Ibrahim, the 21 year old Druze IDF soldier who was struck in the bulldozer attack near Hevron left the hospital yesterday and went home.  It was just 10 days ago that the attack took place causing Shadi “multi-system trauma.” Shadi had to have his leg amputated, and yet he emerged from the hospital yesterday again declaring that he wants to return to his unit as soon as possible.”

Kolakevod Shadi Ibrahim!

In case you have never visited these beautiful gardens before, they are located on 30 acres at the southeast corner of the Hebrew University’s Givat Ram campus. They contain 10,000 species of plants organized into six areas: plants native to the Mediterranean area, Central and southwest Asia, Australia, North America, Europe, and southern Africa.

The News on the Israel Street

The daily Corona update . . .

*6 am Tuesday: There are now 16,734 confirmed cases of Corona in Israel. 29 people are on ventilators. 281 Israelis have died. 14,307 have recovered.

In sum, 5 people were taken off ventilators in the last 24 hours; 2 died. There remain 2,427 active cases of corona in Israel.

*The Israel Airports Authority announced yesterday that regular commercial passenger flights in and out of Ben Gurion Airport will not resume until mid-July. The reason for the delay is that the Authority is struggling with how to set up testing for those wanting to take off from the airport and those who are landing.

As regular readers on OneIsrael know, there were some months last year when as many a 1,000,000 travelers passed through Ben Gurion. How can social distancing and testing be ensured with so many people in such a confined area?

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Speaking of diseases, the disease of Palestinian terror continues unabated. Yesterday alone:

*5 Palestinian terrorists were captured between Azzun and Izbat a-Tabib near Qalqilya following attacks on IDF soldiers.

*2 Palestinian terrorists tried to stab IDF soldiers at Amichai near Shiloh. The terrorists were shot and wounded. No Israelis were wounded.

*A Palestinian terrorist attempted to stab a policeman in the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood. The terrorist was shot and later died at a hospital.

*Palestinian terrorists carried out multiple “rock” and Molotov attacks throughout Judea and Samaria, most notably in area of Kiryat Arba near Hevron.

*Palestinian terrorists launched explosive balloons from Gaza into southern Israel, but only succeeded in starting several small fires.

Speaking of terrorists, another outrageous ruling from the Israel Supreme Court . . .

If you can believe this (and of course you can), the Supreme Court ordered the IDF not to carry out the destruction of a home belonging to one of the terrorists who murdered 18-year-old Dvir Sorek near Migdal Oz last August.

Why? Because the demolition order was not issued until 5 months after the attack and because the action would be “purely punitive.”

Say what?

If the IDF issues a demolition order immediately after an attack, the Court invariably rules against it saying that such an order is too hasty.

There is a distinct difference between the Nightforce rifle scopes levitra cost of are so expensive. And yes, obviously, the purpose of the demolition is punitive.

Unbelievable . . . and you wonder why terrorists attack Israelis with impunity.

Speaking of terrorists . . . and sovereignty . . .

The PLO announced this morning that it was declaring sovereignty over Area C of Judea and Samaria. According to the spokesman, now that PLO Chairman Abbas has rendered the Oslo Accords null and void, there is no reason to have a distinction between Areas A, B, and C.

It will be very interesting to see how many countries rush to recognize this new “Palestinian sovereignty.”

By the way, your humble servant has often mused about what would happen if the PLO announced at the United Nations tomorrow morning that it was declaring a Palestinian state that encompassed all of Israel?

You can be sure that at least 75 to 100 countries would immediately rush to recognize it.

Netanyahu’s trial . . .

. . . opened on Sunday with Netanyahu escorted into the court by a group of his minions:

From left to right wearing masks: Amir Ohama, Miri Regev, Nir Barkat, Yisrael Katz (you can only see the top of his head, Tzahi Hanegbi, a woman I do not recognize, and Yoav Gallant.

From left to right wearing masks: Amir Ohama, Miri Regev, Nir Barkat, Yisrael Katz (you can only see the top of his head, Tzahi Hanegbi, an unidentified woman), and Yoav Gallant.

A touching and uncharacteristic moment came when Netanyahu began to cry as a group of Holocaust survivors offered their support:

When was the last time Netanyahu was moved to tears?

When was the last time Netanyahu was moved to tears?

TODAY’S BLOG:

What Security Cooperation Between the PLO and Israel Really Means

There is a widespread misconception that the purpose of PLO-Israel security cooperation in Judea and Samaria is to thwart Palestinian terror attacks against Israelis.

Because of this misconception, leftists in Israel and elsewhere shake in their boots each time PLO Chairman Abu Mazen threatens to end such cooperation.

However, as your humble servant has been writing for years, the purpose of this cooperation is not so much to help Israel as it is to prop up PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and the PLO.

On Sunday,  I was interested to read the following commentary in Arutz Sheva from Efraim Inbar, the president of the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security:

“In principle, the Palestinians can decide not to continue the security coordination, but they will pay prices for it. It should be understood that the security coordination is primarily aimed at clearing Judea and Samaria from subversive elements against the PLO regime. The purpose of the coordination is to locate the cells of Hamas and other Palestinian organizations that oppose Abbas’ rule and this is done together with Israel.”

Precisely.

As we have often written, without the security cooperation, Abbas would be excised, the PLO would be immediately attacked by Hamas, and Hamas would take over Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria. That would not be good for Israel, but it would be the end of the Abbas and the PLO.

A final addendum: A PLO senior official quietly affirmed today that security cooperation will continue between the PLO and Israel.
