“Requote” Of the Day
“When you have to shoot, shoot; don’t talk.”
Avigdor Lieberman on Facebook yesterday urging PM Netanyahu to get on with sovereignty/annexation and stop talking about it.
Your humble servant is certainly no fan of Lieberman, but on this subject he is absolutely correct. What PM Netanyahu has done by setting July 1 as a target date is to bring all of the Palestinian supporters out of the woodwork to oppose sovereignty/annexation (see Today’s Blog below).
By the way, the quote is from the character of Tuco, played by Jewish actor Eli Wallach in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
The News on the Israeli Street
The daily Corona update . . .
*As of 12:00 pm today (Thursday): there are 18,461 confirmed cases of Corona in Israel of whom 15,214 are recovering. 24 Israelis are on ventilators, and 300 have died.
*The Ministry of Health reports that 7,721 new tests were administered yesterday, and 1.59% of those tested positive
*433 of the newly confirmed cases are students and staff of educational institutions. 144 schools have now been closed, and 23,969 students and staff are now in self-quarantine.
*The reopening of public transportation is not going well. Trains are still not running, and videos of crowded buses in the Beit Shemesh area led Transportation Minister Miri Regev to say yesterday that buses may soon be locked down again.
*Since the recent uptick in confirmed cases, the police have issued 381 fines to citizens who were not wearing masks.

The PLO refused to accept a planeload of Corona supplies from the United Arab Emirates last night because the Etihad cargo plane carrying the supplies landed at Ben Gurion airport in coordination with Israel.

Speaking of the Palestinians . . .
There was interesting reportage on Israeli television last night to the effect that while the PLO leadership is ramping up the campaign against Israel’s possible sovereignty/annexation declaration, Palestinians on the ground are of a different bent.
More specifically, many Palestinians living in Area C want to move into the parts of Area C that would be under Israeli sovereignty. We might be on the verge of something resembling a mad scramble to relocate.
To that end, the Civil Administration is preparing to take a census of Area C to find out who lives where so that Palestinians cannot claim to have been living where they weren’t.
TODAY’S BLOG:
What do AIPAC, the Democrats in the U.S. Congress, the Jerusalem Post, the PLO, the “European Union”, and major religious denominations in the U.S, all have in common?
*According to the Jewish News Agency (JTA), AIPAC has given Democrats in Congress a green light to criticize any attempt by Israel to declare sovereignty over any part of Area C of Judea and Samaria.
What in the world has happened to AIPAC?
*The Jerusalem Post continued its front page rant against sovereignty/annexation this morning with this front page headline: “Maas: EU Under Pressure To Punish Israel: Berlin Can’t Protect Country If It Annexes Settlements.” Maas refers to the German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas who is currently in Israel.
Maas reiterated the German position that declaring sovereignty or annexing violates international law.
*The PLO let it be known yesterday that it will be cutting off all monies to Gaza and to all senior officials in Areas A and B in order to stir up unrest against sovereignty/annexation plans.
What’s new? The PLO has never renounced violence and does everything possible to incite it.
*In a letter to the U.S. Congress last week, the leaders of the Presbyterian Church, Lutheran Church, Church of Christ, Methodist Church and Episcopal Church (among others) wrote: “Formal annexation is an act of aggression . . . [that] would entrench inequalities and abuses of Palestinian rights for foreseeable future. We are looking to our Congressional leaders to assure that our country acts courageously and makes clear that annexation undermines the rule of law and is morally unacceptable.”
Sanctimonious fools. The leadership of these entities have long been on a road devoid of any morality when it comes to Israel. All your humble servant can say is thank goodness for our evangelical friends!
And so it goes this morning in Israel. Who knows what torrent of anti-Israel abuse tomorrow will bring?
