The News on the Israeli Street
The daily Corona update . . .
*As of 8:00 am this morning (Friday), there are 18,701 confirmed cases of Corona in Israel, of whom 15,288 people have recovered. 24 Israelis are on ventilators, and 300 Israelis have died.
*14,643 tests were performed yesterday; again, just over 200 people tested positive.
*More than a thousand people were fined yesterday for not wearing a mask.
*The government decided last night that areas of south Tel Aviv where foreign workers live will be closed off as will different areas of the Negev where there is a high incidence of Corona among Bedouins.
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
*Palestinian terrorists in Gaza have announced that they will resume (as if they ever stopped) bombarding southern Israel with explosive balloons at 10:00 am this morning. According to their announcement, they will turn the southern Israeli border with Gaza “into hell.”
*Palestinian arsonists in Samaria set fire to a hilltop forest near Yitzhar.
*Palestinian terrorists using “rocks” and Molotovs attacked more than a dozen targets yesterday in Judea and Samaria. The worst attack was on a bus at the small Yakir Junction in Samaria where two Israelis were wounded and bus windows were shattered.
*Four Palestinian terrorists who had assaulted the Governor’s House in Abu Dis with IEDs and Molotovs last week, were captured by the Israeli Border Police.
Speaking of Palestinian terrorists . . .
You will recall the Palestinian who was shot and killed by Border Police after he was suspected of being about to carry out an attack in Jerusalem last week. Immediately, there was an outcry because the man was said to be autistic.
At the time, your humble servant expressed regret over the death of the man, but at the same time wondered why he had fled security officials who ordered him to stop.
More than that, I pointed out that virtually every terrorist who is eliminated on the Gaza border, Lebanese border, and in Judea and Samaria is later claimed to be a “special needs” person or a shepherd.
Now recall the thwarted terror attack from two days ago at Itamar where alert IDF troops conducting a routine nighttime sweep of the security fence discovered a knife-armed terrorist trying to cut through the fence. That terrorist was taken into custody.
Yesterday came cries from Arab Joint List Knesset Legislator Ahmed Tibi that . . . guess what . . . “the terrorist was a special needs person unfairly arrested by occupation forces.”
Speaking again of terrorists . . .
“Haj” Hassan Mahmoud Farhat, one of the founders of Hezbollah and a senior commander in the terror organization, died yesterday under mysterious circumstances. The two most plausible theories at the moment are that he either died in an accident or was assassinated.
Speaking of idiotic statements . . .

Former PM Ehud Olmert was at it again yesterday in an interview with a Saudi newspaper. First Olmert claimed that “annexation is a disaster that could lead to a third intifada.” Then he went on to incredibly say that “The Jordan Valley is not important to Israel’s security.”
To which the Likud Party spokesman answered: “Is it any wonder that Ehud Olmert, who was ready to give away the Western Wall in Jerusalem when he was prime minister, thinks that the Jordan Valley is not important?”
Speaking of hypocritical idiots . . .
The Spanish government announced yesterday that it will not permit a company in Spain that sell handcuffs to sell 2000 pairs of handcuffs to Israeli police because the Israeli police do not treat the Palestinians in a “humanitarian manner.”
However, it will permit the company to sell handcuffs to Syria and Iran.
About we evil un-humanitarian Israelis . . .
The 10-day-old son of Syrian refugees who are currently living in Cyprus was life-flighted to Israel yesterday for emergency surgery for a heart defect.
According to the Israel Ambassador in Cyprus Sami Rebel: “This is a Syrian baby born with a rare heart defect. We were contacted by the Cypriot Ministry of Health and quickly obtained all necessary permits from the Israeli authorities. The baby was taken to Tel Hashomer Hospital where hopefully he will undergo a life-saving surgery. It’s a manifestation of solidarity, saving a baby’s life is a must.”
Some unfortunate news . . .
Settlement Affairs Minister Tzipi Hotovely has unfortunately decided to leave her post at the request of PM Netanyahu in order to serve as Israel’s new ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Hotovely, who is one of the most eloquent voices on the Israel “right” will be replaced by Tzahi Hanegbi who has made disparaging remarks about Jewish community members and even we residents of the South.
More history is made . . .
This morning at 10:00 am, the first ever nonstop flight will take place between Ben Gurion Airport and Najmana, the capital of Chad. The flight to Chad follows the history-making flight over Sudan that took place last week.
TODAY’S BLOG:
Two Significant Developments On The Sovereignty/Annexation Front
Two events appear now appear likely.
As early at this Sunday, the Cabinet may actually vote to approve the outline of the Trump Vision (aka Trump Peace Plan).
Second, PM Netanyahu now seems to favor a phased implementation of sovereignty. Under what now seems to be the new plan, Israel will first declare sovereignty over Ma’ale Adumim, Gush Etzion, and Ariel.
Other Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, and the entire Jordan Valley will wait until later.
And therein lies the rub.
A phased implementation is better than no implementation, but a phased implementation rewards all of Israel’s enemies with more time to oppose the overall plan and makes it ever more likely that it will never take place.
