Quote of the Day
“The public seems to have lost confidence in its leadership, and many have no motivation in the third intifada . . . therefore, the main problem of the PLO right now is how to motivate the indifferent Palestinian public in the West Bank to participate in at least demonstrations and rallies against annexation.”
A leading commentator on Hamal this morning.
Isn’t amazing how everyone in the West and on the left in Israel is running around yelling that the sky will fall if Israel declares sovereignty over part of Area C? The fact is that every time another politician predicts extreme violence will ensue, it spurs the PLO and Hamas to turn it into a self-fulfilling prophecy.
But the truth is that an Israeli declaration of sovereignty/annexation of the Jewish communities in Judea and Samara will change absolutely nothing on the ground in Areas A and B. Hence the indifference of the Palestinian public.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Terrorists threw Molotovs at Israelis at Al-Aruv and numerous other places.
Terrorists placed concrete blocks at Deir Lot in the direction of Beit Arye.
Terrorists placed an IED beside the road between the Rama Junction and the Ras Al-Ain junction. It was defused by police sappers.
Terrorists were captured by the IDF in Jenin, Jilazon, and Beit Fajjar overnight.
The daily Corona update . . .
As of 10 am this morning (Monday):
There are 20,778 confirmed cases—145 more since yesterday.
15,694 Israelis have recovered—35 more than yesterday.
40 are in serious condition—the same as yesterday.
28 are on ventilators—1 more than yesterday.
306 have died—1 more than yesterday.
Trains began running again this morning but . . .
. . . few riders appeared. As we noted several days, it is so difficult to get a voucher to ride on a train that riders are being dissuaded from riding.
Support for sovereignty and annexation . . .

It appears that Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives will publish a statement of support of Israel declaring sovereignty in Area C along the parameters in the Trump plan.
At the same time, evangelical Christians led by the founder of Christians United for Israel John Hagee are also rallying around sovereignty. In an article that Hagee had published yesterday, he declared that “”biblically, historically and legally, Israel holds and does not conquer the Holy Land.”
It should be noted that Christians United for Israel is the largest pro-Israel group in the world with more than 8,000,000 members.
TODAY’S BLOG:
Hear O Israel!
Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is one.
If there is one quintessential prayer in Judaism, it is the Shema. It is recited twice a day in Jewish prayer services and traditionally spoken by children before they go to sleep at night. If possible, a Jew’s last words are supposed to be the Shema–following in the footsteps of the aged Rabbi Akiva who prayed the Shema as Roman soldiers tore out his heart with hot pincers.
Thinking about the above makes the following piece of news today all the more unbelievable and makes one wonder how it could happen in the only Jewish country in the world.
Amnon Goldis, the owner of small Kosher Mehadrine (the highest form of kosher) wine store in Ramat Gan (a suburb of Tel Aviv) has watched in recent years as flags of all types paraded down the street in front of his store–PLO flags, gay pride flags, and many others.
He never voiced a complaint.
But this past week he put a banner that contained the Shema above the name of his wine store:
Putting up the Shema was a statement of Amnon’s faith in God–a statement that he hoped would resonate with Jews who passed by in Ramat Gan.
But guess what happened.
No sooner was the Shema banner up than the municipality of Ramat Gan sent Amnon this letter:
In short, the letter threatens Amnon with a fine if he does not remove the Shema immediately.
Can you believe this?
It is simply tragic how some urban areas in Israel have become post-Zionist and post-Jewish.
As for Amnon, he is not taking the threat lying down. In a conversation yesterday, he angrily said that Ramat Gan “is an anti-Semitic municipality. It may not threaten me in response to the placing of a Jewish sign, while flags that hurt many of the residents are flying around the city.”
Kolakevod to Amnon Goldis.
Your humble servant hopes that the municipality of Ramat Gan is flooded with letters, emails, and phone calls supporting Amnon. If you are so inclined, the mayor of Ramat Gan is Carmel Shama Hacohen. His office phone number is 6753511.
