Absolutely Correct Quote Of The Day
“During my time as Minister of Defense, I implemented a new order that prevents Palestinian banks from transferring salaries to terrorists or their families due to the murder of Israelis. The order I imposed was hugely successful. The banks stopped transferring salaries to terrorists. The Palestinians went berserk, but I did not give up.
When Gantz took office, the Palestinians pressed him hard and he immediately rejected the sanctions and now again. Let there be no doubt: Gantz’s action is Netanyahu’s opinion. I say this out of knowledge. This is a terrible government that does not function in any area. I have run out of words.”
Former Education and Defense Minister Naftali Bennett commenting this morning on the disgusting decision of so called “Defense” Minister Benny Gantz to once again order that there be no offsets from tax monies for PLO payment of terrorists’ salaries.
Bennett is right on all accounts.
Gantz is a Palliphile; Netanyahu supports Gantz’s actions; the Coalition government is utterly dysfunctional; and we all have run out of words to describe what’s happening (or not happening).
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
At 10:35 pm last night, Palestinian terrorists threw two explosive IEDs at the IDF post at the tomb of Rachel just outside of Bethlehem. No Israelis were wounded in the blasts.
Earlier in the day, Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs at Luban a-Sharqiya, along the Gush Etzion-Hevron highway, at Abed, near Tekoa, and just outside of Hizma among other places.
The daily Corona update . . .
As of 8 am this morning (Sunday):
There are 50,035 confirmed cases—an increase of 670 since this time yesterday
21,589 of these confirmed cases have recovered—an increase of 241
254 are in critical condition—an increase of 37
70 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—an increase of 14
409 have died–an increase of 8
There are 28,446 active cases.
*The number of confirmed cases rose much more slowly yesterday (fewer people were tested?); however, there was a sharp increase in the number of people in critical condition. Israelis continue dying from Corona at a rate of around ten per day.
*The government’s Corona response remains completely pathetic and chaotic.
No one can decide on who the new Corona czar should be, whether restaurants should be closed, whether beaches should be closed, how much money people are going to receive in grants, whether people will receive food stamps, and on and on. Just when you think that a decision has been made, that decision is rescinded by a different entity 5 minutes later.
Speaking of dysfunction, the Netanyahu trial stumbles to a start . . .

Yesterday was supposed to be the beginning “in earnest” of the trial of PM Netanyahu.
However all that was decided was that:
No witnesses will be called until January 2021.
When witnesses finally are called, they will only be called three days a week (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays) and PM Netanyahu must be present in court on those three days.
So what is going to happen between now and January 2021? Netanyahu’s lawyers will file numerous pre-trial motions concerning documents, evidence, and even acquittal without witnesses.
To top off the dysfunction evident at the court hearing, it became apparent that Netanyahu actually has no lawyers; the lawyer representing him yesterday told the incredulous court that he had only been hired to represent Netanyahu yesterday–and he has no idea about whether he will continue or not.
TODAY’S BLOG:
The Temple Mount: Jordan Takes Control
“The Jerusalem Wakf is responsible for all 144 dunams of the Al-Aksa Mosque and does not consider itself subordinate to the Israeli authorities of its courts. Instead, we are subordinate to the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments.”
Azzam Al-Khatib, Director of the Jerusalem Wakf in an interview yesterday with the Hamas newspaper, Felesteen
You might be asking yourself several questions dear reader such as:
How could the Al-Aksa Mosque cover 144 dunams (35 acres)?
Isn’t the Temple Mount, which includes the Al-Aksa Mosque under Israeli sovereignty?
Answering the second question first, the answer is yes, of course. But what has happened over the years is that fearful of destabilizing Jordan and fearful of international entities such as the United Nations, the state of Israel has ceded more and more power to the Jordanian Wakf–until now, the Wakf believes it controls Al-Aksa.
As to the first question, that gradual concession of power has been accompanied by a gradual expansion of what the Al-Aksa Mosque is. In short, it is no longer the building itself but now encompasses the entire Temple Mount including the Western Wall. In recent months the Imam of Al-Aksa actually said that the rebuilding of the Tiferet Synagogue in the middle of the Jewish Quarter should not proceed because that area was also part of the Al-Aksa Mosque.
This might all seem like an exercise in bravado terminology except for the fact that Israel now goes out of its way to create de facto Jordanian sovereignty on the Mount concurring with exactly what Al-Khatib said.
Yesterday the trial of three young soldiers was temporarily postponed in Jerusalem–three young soldiers who had been arrested on the Temple Mount by Israeli police because they said the Shema Israel.
After the trial was postponed, the father of one of the young men had this to say: “There must be no such precedent of a trial of soldiers who say Shema Yisrael on the Temple Mount, and God forbid that Israel considers it a crime.”
A lawyer for the young men added: “It is unbelievable that in the State of Israel 2020, after 70 years of independence, an indictment will be filed against boys whose whole sin was to recite Shema on the Temple Mount.”
Sadly, the indictment is not unbelievable. It is just one step deeper into the abyss of turning over the Mount to the Jordanians.
