The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Along the Gaza border:
A “hot hammer” was issued along the southern Gaza border yesterday after IDF forces and an IDF fence-building crew were fired upon by a Palestinian sniper or snipers in Gaza. A “hot hammer” means that all soldiers and workers go on highest alert, all roads leading to the security fence are closed, and all entry to border areas is prohibited.
Explosions were heard all day and night long as incendiary balloons were launched into southern Israel that exploded in the air and on the ground. Here are some photos of what happened:
In this photo from yesterday afternoon, you see multiple explosive balloons being launched at one time:
Finally, the result of one explosion on ground yesterday in the Eshkol Region:
Oh yes, I forgot to mention what the IDF did in response to this madness. After warning Hamas, an empty ramshackle Hamas observation post was damaged.
In Judea and Samaria:
More Palestinian terror in the form of arson. Palestinian terrorists attempted to burn down the vineyards at Esh Kodesh by throwing Molotovs:
Fortunately, the fire was extinguished by farmers and workers before much damage was done–though some vines already loaded with grapes were damaged.
The large Yitzhar Junction, the Jalama checkpoint near Jenin, Kfar Samaria, Lupin Aya, the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road, and Al Abuv were five out of a dozen places where Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs yesterday.
The daily Corona (Covid 19) update . . .
As of 8 am this morning (Monday):
There are 83,002 confirmed cases—an increase of 678 since this time yesterday
57,553 of these confirmed cases have recovered—an increase of 482
395 are in critical condition–an increase of 6
117 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—an increase of 11
600 have died–an increase of 7
There are 25,449 active cases.
The number of dead and critically ill continue to rise. The number of confirmed cases and recoveries will change tomorrow as the first test results of the week come in. Remember that there is very little testing on Saturday in Israel, and it takes 48 hours to get results. So Saturday’s results are being reported today, and Sunday’s, tomorrow.

The off again, on again Corona restrictions are on again. Bars, pubs, event halls, and dance venues are closed again, and we are back to having 10 people inside and 20 outside at restaurants, synagogues, and large stores. To show you how confusing the newest directives are this morning, consider these three connected to “pools”:
*Swimming pools are open restricted to 1 person per 6 sq. meters (how would you measure this?)
*Mikvehs are open, also restricted to 1 person per 6 sq. meters.
*Pools for toddlers (undefined what a “toddler” is) are open.
Or how about this one for cars: “up to two unrelated people may travel together in a private vehicle”.
The point is that Israelis have largely stopped paying attention to such restrictions as the above because they are difficult if not impossible to follow and they change everyday.
The nauseating nature of the left-wing demonstrations . . .
Take a look at this photo from the left-wing demonstration in front of PM Netanyahu’s Balfour residence in Jerusalem two nights ago:
The sign reads “I am Chaim Habib. My family were victims of the racist Nazi regime.”
Did you ever think you would see a Jewish Israeli dressed in concentration camp clothing standing in front of a prime minister’s home accusing him of being a racist Nazi who is committing crimes akin to putting people in concentration camps?
It is beyond nauseating and outrageous, but this photo clearly shows how low the “left” now goes to incite people against PM Netanyahu.
Still crossing our fingers . . .
You will recall that we mentioned on OneIsrael last week that it was being reported that Israel might announce sovereignty in Judea and Samaria on August 24. As we noted at the time, we doubt that anything will happen then, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.
This morning comes news that American Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, has flown to Washington for two weeks of intensive talks. Ostensibly, it is being said that this visit is for “personal reasons”; however, it is widely being suggested that the visit is to discuss sovereignty.
In any case, two weeks from now is . . . August 24.
We are still keeping our fingers crossed.
TODAY’S BLOG
Falling On Deaf Ears No Longer
Perhaps you remember this image from PM Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations General Assembly in September 2018:
Netanyahu’s warning fell on deaf ears, and he was even ridiculed for showing the photos.
You will notice in the above photo that PM Netanyahu practically put his finger on the spot at the Beirut port which exploded last week. However, as you see, Netanyahu was not pointing out the site of a warehouse packed with ammonium nitrate; he was pointing out a storage facility in which Hezbollah had stockpiled “precision guided missiles”.
What seems to have become ever clearer in the last 48 hours is that the explosion of ammonium nitrate triggered a secondary explosion of Hezbollah precision guided missiles. Hence, the different colors of smoke which emanated from the explosion which contained varied levels of toxicity.
As we showed on yesterday’s blog, a BBC reporter actually stumbled upon a Hezbollah bunker under all the rubble two days ago, and yesterday, a French search and rescue team discovered tunnels underneath the rubble as well.
Tunnels to where is not currently known, but one “tunnel” yesterday may have led from Damascus to Tehran as Hezbollah head Hassan Nasrallah (whose effigy was hung in the streets of Beirut yesterday) apparently flew to Iran.
