The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
It was another day of “rock” and Molotov assaults by Palestinian terrorists in such places as Beit El, Hizma, Hawara, on Road 443, and Al-Aruv.
And if you think the explosive balloon plague from Gaza ended with the truce with Hamas last week, think again. Police sappers were called to Gan Yavne (beside Ashdod) yesterday afternoon to defuse a grenade attached to a balloon cluster.
The daily Corona (Covid-19) update as of 8 am this morning . . .
There are 141,097 confirmed cases—an increase of 3,532 since this time yesterday
108,354 these confirmed cases have recovered—an increase of 1,351
477 are in critical condition—an increase of 23
142 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—a decrease of 1
1054 have died–an increase of 14
There are 32,743 active cases.
Of particular note are the increase in active cases and the number of those is critical condition: both of these numbers have implications for the availability of hospital beds. In fact, several hospitals opened additional Corona wards yesterday.
43,445 people were tested yesterday; 8,3% of the tests were positive.
More immigration to Israel . . .
During the next month, it is expected that 2,000 more Jews from camps in Gondar and Addis Ababa will immigrate to Israel.
They have been sitting in these camps for years as a dispute as to their “Jewishness” went on.
Apparently, many of these Jews were originally Jews who converted to Christianity and now want to, or have, reconverted back to Judaism.
It is time to bring them home.
Another day, another broken Netanyahu promise . . .
This time in Samaria again where the head of the Beit El council demanded that Netanyahu keep his promise to build 350 more housing units in the community.

One year ago, Netanyahu actually had the gall to stand in the community and lay the cornerstone for its construction.
Since that moment, the building of the neighborhood has been delayed, delayed, and delayed again by . . . PM Netanyahu.
We can now add Beit El to Givat Hamatos, Khan Al-Ahmar, construction in other Jewish communities, and declaring sovereignty to the ever-growing list of Netanyahu betrayals.
An imminent agricultural disaster . . .
As you know, Israel has been experiencing an extreme heat wave with temperatures reaching as high as 120 F in some places during the last two weeks.
Unfortunately, apple, avocado, cucumber, and tomato crops have cooked in the fields.
Grapes are also withering in vineyards:
The total estimated loss for the last 10 days alone is more that 15 million shekels.
TODAY’S BLOG
An All Around Bad Day For the Palestinians
It was a bad day all around for Mahmoud Abbas and his terrorist cronies in the PLO.
First, they had Hamas Ismail Haniyeh being given the royal tour of supposedly PLO strongholds in southern Lebanon by Hezbollah–a tour which by all accounts infuriated Ramallah.
Then, they had the foreign ministers of the Arab League reject their condemnation of the UAE-Israel normalization agreement. To add insult to injury, the rejected condemnation was actually a watered down version of the original condemnation.
Taken together, these two actions may represent a sea change in the fortunes of the PLO.
In the first place, the PLO strongholds in southern Lebanon no longer answer exclusively to Ramallah. To make matters worse, a Hezbollah television announcer declared yesterday that the return of the so-called 5,000,000 “Palestinian refugees” to “Palestine” is a dead issue going nowhere.
In the second place, the unprecedented Arab League rejection must have come as shock to the PLO which is accustomed to having every proposal rubber stamped by the other Arab leaders. What is more, it looks increasingly as if the two leading supporters of the Palestinians are no longer Arab countries–they are Iran and Turkey.
As your humble servant just said, “a sea change” may really be underway in our Middle Eastern neck of the woods.
