Quote of the Morning
“70 sick patients should not close a city, and 500 critically ill patients should not close a country.”
Lior Raviv, CEO of the Isrotel Hotel Chain speaking on Galatz radio this morning about the absurdity of closing down Eilat and closing down Israel.
The Atrocious Video Of Last Night
A police car arrived in Bnei Brak to enforce Corona regulations. It was attacked by a group of ultra-orthodox men shouting “Nazis!” The police quickly fled.
Two days ago, your humble servant wrote how the new Corona restrictions are highly discriminatory against the haredi community which (correctly) cannot understand why thousands of maskless left-wing demonstrators are allowed to protest together every night–but masked religious Jews cannot pray in similar numbers in synagogues.
Regardless of this discrimination, for the ultra-orthodox to call our police “Nazis” is abominable and indicative of the civil unrest here.

The lockdown is now official and will run from September 18 through October 9. In other words, it will cover the period of Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot.
During this period:
*No one can travel more than 500 meters from home (unless it is an emergency).
*No gatherings of more than 10 people inside and 20 people outside are permitted.
*Stores, malls, tourist sites, and any other leisure sites are closed.
*Schools are closed.
*Restaurants are closed for at/in restaurant dining. Take out delivery is still permitted.
Rules regarding synagogues have yet to be finalized, and Ben Gurion Airport will remain open.
What are the two main problems with these new rules?
To begin with, Israelis no longer trust the government; it is difficult to see business owners or individuals adhering to the guidelines.
Secondly, there are not nearly enough police to enforce every sidewalk, every intersection, every beach, every park, every business, every everything.
By the way, the Ministry of Finance estimates that the new closure will cost Israel about 6,500,000,000 shekels, and that unemployment, which had finally dropped to 11%, will spike again.
Have you received your invitation?
Your humble servant hasn’t received his invitation yet, but a friend received this one.
TODAY’S BLOG:
FOR SALE: ISRAEL
As he left for Washington from Ben Gurion last night, PM Netanyahu said: “This is a new era of peace, thousands of dollars will flow into our economy. It is always good, but especially in the time of Corona.”
Are thousands of dollars “flowing into our economy” always good?
What do Tnuva, Mobileye, Frutarom, NDS, Chromatis, Mercury Interactive, Playtika, Orbotech, SodaStream, Imperva, Mazor Robotics, M-Systems, Waze, Neuroderm, Trusteer, and Valtech Cardio all have in common?
They all were Israeli companies that were sold to foreign investors for more than $1 billion dollars each.
They are just the tip of the iceberg. Numerous other companies have been sold for prices in the hundreds of millions.
What does “investment in Israel” really mean?
It means “buying or taking control of Israeli companies”–and often moving them out of the country.
And as we mentioned in yesterday’s blog, Emirati and Bahraini “investors” are already eyeing numerous properties in Jerusalem and elsewhere in Israel. “Properties” include housing developments, sports teams, communications networks, and on and on.
Basically, all of Israel is for sale.
And our idiotic government is apparently thrilled about it.
