Astonishing numbers. Confirmed cases are rising by the second. One Israeli died from Corona every 27 minutes yesterday.

And still the government dithers over restrictions. What is the final verdict about prayer in synagogues on Yom Kippur, anti-Netanyahu demonstrators in the street, and closing Ben Gurion? No one can make a decision.

The PLO continues building in Area C . . .

Circled is a new illegal road being built at this moment by the PLO.

Circled is a new illegal road being built at this moment by the PLO.

Not only does the Netanyahu government continue to sanction the destruction of every fledgling community in Area C of Judea and Samaria, but also it turns a blind eye to the PLO changing facts on the ground.

Consider what is happening as your humble servant writes this. The PLO continues building a road at the very site where a Jewish community was razed recently.

Ma’ale Shai is the scene of fighting this morning as Israeli farmers try to stop the construction of the road that you see in the photo. The IDF is on the scene–not to stop the construction but to stop the farmers.

Another Iranian bites the dust . . .

The official Iranian news media reported yesterday that General Ali Khadadi, the chief of staff of assassinated Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani, died this week.

How he died is unknown.

The Iranian media claims he died as the of chemical weapons injuries he received in the Iran-Iraq war decades ago. Other reports suggest that he died from Corona or that he was killed in fighting in Syria, or that he met his end in the same way as his former boss.

Whatever the case, another Iranian terrorist will no longer terrorize anyone.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Corona, Anti-Netanyahu Demonstrations, and the Supreme Court

As we reported yesterday, the disaster of Corona is being exacerbated by the ultra-orthodox insistence on such things as traveling to Uman and praying in synagogues on Yom Kippur, and the left’s insistence on demonstrating in the streets against PM Netanyahu while many of its protesters remain maskless.

Just how ludicrous the latter has become was illustrated in a comment this morning from our Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit.

Mandelblit announced that limiting the number of protesters on Balfour Street in Jerusalem in front of the Prime Minister’s home to 2000 is a “balanced position.” And that he is prepared to defend that number before the Supreme Court.

Say what? Are you following this?

We have reached a point in the country at which the demands of the “left” override all other concerns. We cannot stop the demonstrations even though they put all the rest of us at possibly fatal risk by infecting their fellow “protesters” who in turn infect their families who in turn infect all the rest of us. And this is not even to mention how the demonstrators infect the police.

How did we ever get to this point?

Simple. The Israel Supreme Court has long since become an arm of the “left.

In this situation, they are determined to let the anti-Netanyahu demonstrations continue.  All the feeble Mandelblit can do is throw up his hands and hope that the Court accepts the 2000 number as “balanced”.

Imagine for a moment what would happen if Israeli citizens on the “right” were demonstrating in the streets with many not wearing masks. How long do you think the Court or the Attorney General would countenance that?

The whole situation here in Israel these days is beyond bizarre.
