9 PM: Special Announcement

As you regular readers of OneIsrael realize, there was no blog yesterday. Yesterday morning, just as your humble servant was finishing up a blog about the importance of the American presidential election, OneIsrael was attacked by anti-Israel hackers who managed to shut us down until this evening (they posted a number of messages which fortunately were invisible to everyone except we who operate the site).

At any rate, we are back up and running and have added yet another layer of security to keep hackers at bay. Thank you for your patience with this situation!

The News On The Israeli Street

The “daily” Corona (Covid-19) update . . .

The following covers the last 48 hours (from 8 am Monday until 8 am Wednesday):

There are 316,792 confirmed casesan increase of 1,849

304,418 of these confirmed cases have recoveredan increase of 1,706

365 are in critical condition—a decrease of 44

162 the most critically ill are on ventilatorsa decrease of 6

2,592 have diedan increase of 38

There are now 12,374 active Corona cases in Israel.

Palestinian violence in the last 48 hours . . .

**The most egregious attack was a shooting attack at the Hatmar Shomron Square in Samaria.

In that attack, the terrorist opened fire at a group of IDF soldiers who fortunately escaped unharmed.

By the way, the terrorist was a member of the PLO “security services” (aka a Palestinian policeman). He was later captured.

**Palestinian vs Palestinian violence erupted at the Al-Amari Palestinian settlement near Ramallah and the Balata settlement near Shechem. The supporters of Abu Mazen opponent Muhammad Dahlan have been violently protesting the PLO assassination of Dahlan supporter Hatem Abu Rizek.

The absurdity of Khan Al-Ahmar continues . . .

You will remember that Khan Al-Ahmar is the illegal Palestinian settlement that was created by the European Union in the E1 section beside Maaleh Adumim. The Israel Supreme Court ruled years ago that the settlement should be destroyed.

PM Netanyahu promised to do so.

Again, again, and again.

But Khan Al-Ahmar is still there and is growing larger.

Yesterday, Netanyahu and our laughingly called “Defense Minister” Benny Gantz told the Court that there will be no demolition of the settlement for another 4 months.

Why? Because our absurd government is trying to have the Palestinian residents to formulate a plan for how to proceed.

Unbelievable.

What do you think the punishment should be? . . .

The facts:

  1. Amjad al-Qarnawi, an IDF Bedouin soldier, served at the Negev Guard Base.
  2. Qarnawi made contact with a Hamas cell consisting of a family member and two Hamas from the Hevron area.
  3. Qarnawi and his companions developed a plan to steal weapons from the base. Qarnawi photographed the base focusing on the weapons depot.
  4. During the last Passover holiday, two of the terrorists dressed in IDF uniforms infiltrated the base by cutting through the wire security fence.
  5. They were spotted by IDF soldiers.
  6. A fight ensued in which one of the soldiers was stabbed with the wire cutters.
  7. The terrorists were captured and the rest of the cell was uncovered.
  8. Yesterday, the prosecution in the case agreed to a plea deal with Qarnawi in the Beersheva District Court.

What do you think the punishment was? Will the imprisonment period be:

  1. 20 months imprisonment
  2. 30 months imprisonment
  3. 40 months imprisonment

What do you think is the amount of compensation that Qarnawi must pay to the wounded soldier?

  1. 2000 shekels ($588)
  2. 6000 shekels ($1,764)
  3. 10,000 shekels ($2941)

For terrorism, stealing weapons for use in killing Israelis, and wounding an IDF soldier, the Court agreed to 20 months and 2000 shekels.

Such is the state of the Israeli judiciary these days.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The Day After

We’ll make this blog tonight short and unfortunately not sweet.

Though the official results are not in yet, there is little doubt that Joe Biden will be the next President of the United States. Biden has crept ahead in Wisconsin and Michigan and is likely to do so in Georgia and possibly North Carolina as well.

There is no way forward for President Trump.

That does not mean that Trump’s lawyers will not mount legal challenges, but it would take some fraud of which we know nothing for the Supreme Court to disallow enough votes to give Trump another 4 years.

In short, it would take a miracle.

We have already discussed in previous blogs why a Biden presidency will be extremely bad for Israel. Tomorrow, we will expound on that subject.
