The Joke of the Morning
Benny Gantz told Egyptian mediators that Israel is considering “initiating a military operation in Gaza” if mediation talks with Hamas fail.
Whom do you think is laughing the most? The Egyptians? Hamas? Israelis along the Gaza border?
The chance of our so-called “Defense Minister” Benny Gantz initiating a military operation against anyone–much less Hamas–is less than zero. Just look at what Gantz did as IDF Chief of Staff for 51 days in 2014, and you know what Gantz will do.
More black humor about the same subject from PM Bennett
At a ceremony remembering the 2014 war with Gaza, Bennett said: “Our patience is running out, the residents of the communities around Gaza are not second-class citizens. Our position is clear. There is no intention to harm those who do not rise up against us, but at the same time – we will not tolerate violence and dripping.”
How many times have we heard “our patience is running out” or “the residents of the communities around Gaza are not second-class citizens” or “We will not tolerate violence and dripping.”
So many times that such talk no longer has any meaning. It is just a sad joke.
By way of example
In the context of the absurd threats from Gantz and Bennett today comes news that following all the explosive balloon attacks on southern Israel 4 days ago, Israel will now allow Hamas to export agricultural products from Gaza abroad and to Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria. At the same time, Israel further opened the Kerem Shalom Crossing.
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours
Palestinian terrorists attacked the bus above between Ma’ale Adumim and Jerusalem. The driver was badly wounded; the terrorists escaped.
Palestinian terrorists attacked another bus (381) on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road between Beit Omer and the Karmei Tzur Junction.

TODAY’S BLOG
Is Corona Back?
Yes, but fortunately not nearly to the extent it was a few months ago–but enough to cause the Home Front Command to order preparations for the reopening of 20 drive in testing locations in the country.
Nearly 100 people tested positive yesterday–a daily number that continues to climb. The Binyamina area has now become the first region of Israel to regress from green to yellow in Corona coding.
Actually, there is no firm evidence of what is causing the outbreak though the Indian mutation is being blamed as a possible culprit.
What we do know is that there was a gigantic breach of Corona protocol at Ben Gurion Airport in the last few days.
Thousands of incoming passengers were not properly tested, or when properly tested not sent to quarantine.
Yet incoming passengers do not seem entirely to blame. For example last month:
4,874 passengers arrived from Russia; 31 tested positive.
681 passengers arrived from Ethiopia; 3 tested positive.
337 passengers arrived from the Maldives; only 1 tested positive.
1,305 passengers arrived from Egypt; none tested positive.
For some time, your humble servant has been suggesting that the Health Ministry’s rush to open the country and tell people that they do not need to wear masks was extremely premature.
Let’s hope I was wrong, and that the current situation does not spiral out of control.
