The Most Idiotic Statement of the Day
“If Jews prayed on the Temple Mount, it is clearly against the law.”
Minister of Internal Security Amar Bar-Lev speaking yesterday following the publication of videos of Jews praying and singing Hatikvah on the Temple Mount on Tisha B’Av.
Against the law?
What law?
There is no law stipulating what Jews can and cannot do on the Temple Mount–the site of the holiest place in Judaism.
What exists are rules that the Islamic Wakf created to suppress any Jewish attachment to the site.
While Israel talks about maintaining the status quo, the Islamic Wakf has produced more and more proscriptions which have in fact changed the status quo. Unfortunately, in recent years, the Israel Police have gone along with each of these expansions of the rules.
Thankfully, two days ago they did not as PM Bennett backed Jewish rights on the Mount.
By the way, Amar Bar-Lev’s statement comes as no surprise. As a left-wing member of the Labor Party, he would happily prohibit any Jew from going to the Mount.

The video that we linked to yesterday which shows Knesset Legislator Amichai Shikli leading a small group of Jews singing Hatikvah in front of the Kipat HaSela (Dome of the Rock), caused an immediate outcry among Muslims–and exposed yet another rift in the already fissured Coalition.
Knesset member Mansour Abbas, the head of the Ra’am Islamic Party which is keeping the Coalition afloat, called for Muslims everywhere to come to Jerusalem to “strengthen the Islamic character” of Al-Aksa.
According to Abbas: “the Haram esh-Sharif (Temple Mount) belongs exclusively to Muslims and they have a right to protect it from any danger.”
Ra’am added this statement: “The blessed al-Aqsa Mosque for its entire area of 144 dunams (meaning the entire Temple Mount) is an exclusive right of the Muslims ; the Islamic Movement and all our people inside the Palestinian land and noble Jerusalem will stand as a dam against all the extremists . . .”

Palestinian Terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Dozens of more explosive balloons were launched from Gaza into southern Israel. One such “balloon” detonated and caused a fire near Zikim.

The Corona Surge Continues
