Video of the Morning
As you may have heard by now, the self-proclaimed “humanitarian” board of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream voted several days ago to no longer sell Ben and Jerry’s ice cream in Judea and Samaria.
They actually voted to no longer sell their ice cream in all of Israel, but this vote was overturned by Unilever–the corporation that owns Ben and Jerry’s. However, the Judea/Samaria vote stands and as of December of 2022, it will go into effect.
Reaction in Israel has been swift with the local franchisee pleading with Israeli consumers not to stop buying Ben and Jerry’s because he strongly opposes the Judea/Samaria decision and because workers at the ice cream production plant will lose their jobs.
Nevertheless, a video posted by Economy Minister Orna Barbivai sums up the way that most Israelis feel. Click here to watch the 36 second video–you don’t need Hebrew to understand the message.
The News on the Israeli Street
The daily Corona update . . .
1,393 new cases of Corona were confirmed yesterday bringing to 8,993 the number of active cases in Israel. 63 Israelis are in serious condition with 12 on ventilators. 6,452 Israelis have died.
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Palestinian terrorists using Molotovs and “rocks” attacked Israelis between Emanuel and Yakir, on the road near Beitar, between Anatot and Hizma, at Katavim between Migdalan and Tapuach, at the small Yakir Junction, and at Ma’ale Levona among other places.
IDF incompetence, again . . .
The two artillery shells that the IDF fired at the missile launch site in Lebanon two days ago missed the target by 1.5 miles.
What does the IDF have to say about this?
“In response to rockets fired at Israeli territory on Tuesday morning, IDF artillery forces attacked Lebanon. One of the shells was fired improperly at Vesta. This is a professional incident that is being investigated by the commanders – the lessons will be learned. During the day, there will be an investigation led by a brigade commander.”
“Incidents” like this do not exactly inspire confidence that IDF ground forces will be able to competently confront Hezbollah when that day comes.
Miss Universe comes to Israel . . .
It was announced yesterday that this year’s contest will be held in December in Eilat.
Contestants from 170 countries will compete. Now, we will all watch for 4 months as an onslaught of BDS propaganda tries to overturn the decision.
TODAY’S BLOG
End This Government Now!
When Israel’s new Coalition government assumed power 5 weeks ago, your humble servant decided to give it a chance. I decided to do this even though I bitterly disagreed with a government which depended on an Islamist Party (Ra’am) to survive and a government eagerly anxious to throw the orthodox population of Israel under the bus.
My thinking was that with so many ministers in the government on the “right”, it might be possible for those on the right to counterbalance the extremists on the left.

That thinking has quickly been proven false.
Not only has the government mounted a wholesale assault on the devoutly religious Jewish citizens of Israel, but PM Naftali Bennett and FM Yair Lapid have become the mouthpiece of Muslims and the “left.”
The net effect is an attack on the Jewishness of this country.
Everyday sees another broadside against the haredis in our country whether it is stripping away daycare subsidies for families whose father is studying in a yeshiva, or (this morning) announcing that the Chief Rabbinate will no longer control the conversion process.
Moreover, the statements of Bennett and Lapid concerning the Temple Mount have instantaneously overturned the status quo in favor of a strictly Islamist narrative about worship there. In doing so, they have thrown out 3,000 years of Jewish history.
When PM Bennett announced two days ago that Jews have a right to access the Mount but not a right to worship there, I could not help but think of the millions of Jews who died over the centuries defending our First and Second Temples.
When Nebuchadnezzar slaughtered tens of thousands of Jews and forced the remaining population of Judea into exile in 586 BCE, what did they long for? A return to Judea so that they could rebuild the Temple on the Mount and worship there.
When the Romans slaughtered half a million Jews and destroyed the second Temple in 70 CE, what did the Jews do? Over the next 55 years they mounted two more wars against the Romans at a cost of another million lives in an attempt to regain the right to worship on the Mount.
From 135 BCE until today, we have seen Jews constantly yearn to return to worship on the Mount amidst a procession of conquerors including the Byzantines, Muslims, Crusaders, and Ottomans.
Imagine our ecstatic glee in 1967 when Gen. Moti Gur and his paratroopers finally retook the Temple Mount and declared “The Mount is in our hands!”
Within hours, that glee was ripped away by Moshe Dayan who turned over administration of the Mount to the Islamic Wakf. From then until now, Jews again have fought a relentless battle against Islamic forces to worship on the Mount.
Only to have PM Naftali Bennett and FM Yair Lapid enter the picture this week.
Bennett’s egregious statement about Jews having no right to worship on the Mount was seconded yesterday by FM Lapid who blathered this absurdity in a meeting with his Yesh Atid Party:
“Jews have the freedom to visit the Temple Mount, and Muslims have freedom of worship. If there are Jews who want to pray, the holiest place for Jews is a few meters away – the Western Wall.”
As every Jew (apparently except former TV broadcaster Lapid) knows, the holiest place in Judaism is the Foundation Stone under the Kipat HaSela where the Holy of Holies once stood–not the Western Wall which was a retaining wall for the Second Temple.
Not surprisingly the statements of Bennett and Lapid were immediately praised by the Islamic Movement which gushed about “the unprecedented achievement in which an Israeli Zionist-religious official recognizes for the first time since 1948 that the right of worship is only for Muslims and that Jews have the right to visit the mountain as tourists only.”
Sheikh Kamal Rian, a senior member of the Islamic Movement and the Ra’am Party expanded on this: “Only Muslims have the right to pray in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Jews have no right to pray. This is a very great achievement: religious, political, ideological, historical . . . this achievement came only thanks to Ra’am.”
This is what we have come to in 5 short weeks: the Islamization of the Temple Mount and the de-Judaification of Jerusalem and Israel.
As soon as possible, the government of Bennett and Lapid must be ended by a vote of no-confidence in the Knesset.
