The News on the Israeli Street

The daily Corona update . . .

7,071 more Israelis were confirmed yesterday as having Corona (a low number because of Shabbat). There are now 80,579 active cases in the country.

The positive test rate yesterday was 7.09%–the highest in months.

1,046,748 Israelis have tested positive since the pandemic began last year.

726 Israelis are in serious condition with another 149 in critical condition on ventilators.

6,958 Israelis have died of Covid-19; an increase of 15 since Friday.

Vaccinations:

5,951,706 Israelis have received 1 dose.

5,468,809 Israelis have received 2 doses.

1,962,253 Israelis have received 3 doses.

The IDF finally responds, sort of . . .

A firefighter desperatelh tries to put out a fire in the Eshkol Region this morning caused by a detonating explosive balloon launched from Gaza.

A firefighter desperately tries to put out a fire in the Eshkol Region this morning caused by an explosive balloon launched from Gaza.

In response to the never ending barrage of explosive balloons from Gaza, the IAF attacked targets in Gaza last night. As we always report, these attacks on Hamas were on empty buildings and sand dunes.

Read these idiotic comments from the IDF spokesman this morning:

“The IDF’s method of attacking Hamas’ infrastructure in Gaza focuses on the terrorist organization’s infrastructure and assets, but there is no intention to eliminate terrorists. An evacuation warning is made before bombing the facilities used to produce and carry out terrorism against Israeli citizens. In response to the riots and the throwing of explosives on the fence, and the inflating of terrorist balloons into the western Negev, the Air Force attacked a military compound used for training and manufacturing weapons, as well as an entrance shaft leading to a terrorist tunnel.”

If you can believe this, the spokesman went on to say that “the IDF is superior in values” to Hamas and Islamic and Jihad because we only want to hit their assets while “they want to kill us.”

In your humble servant’s opinion, it is far more moral to try to kill a terrorist who is trying to kill you in order to save yourself and to save other people who might get killed by the terrorist.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Bennett Fawns, Biden Sleeps

As we predicted the other day, PM Bennett’s short meeting with Joe Biden at the White House on Friday was a joke from beginning to end.
Also they have no problem cheap super cialis in taking this food moderately. This thought should tadalafil professional be plucked from the mind before you file the Propecia lawsuit. Other erectile dysfunction click here for more info generic cialis canada reasons comprise stress, fatigue, anxiety, guilt, discomfiture or despair. buy viagra Therefore a proper dosage should be prescribed by the doctor so that no confusion is created later on.

It began very inauspiciously. Bennett’s car pulled up at the White House portico, he and his wife got out, but there was no Joe and Jill to greet them, and no salute from the Marines at the door. The Bennetts unceremoniously walked in.

Once in the Oval Office, Bennett predictably used “progressive” terminology to fawn all over himself  for having created ” the most diverse and inclusive” Israeli government ever, and to fawn all over Biden by extolling his and America’s friendship and leadership–and everything else he could cram into 5 minutes including a misstatement as to how many Israelis have received a 3rd dose of vaccine (Bennett said “3 million; actual number is slightly fewer than 2 million.

And how did Biden respond?

He slept through Bennett’s entire monologue:

Bennett talks and Biden naps.

Bennett fawns animatedly while Biden naps.

Of course, the American media did not show this particular view, only focusing on Bennett.

Bennett’s critique of the meeting afterwards was particularly hilarious:

“The president  is a very nice person and he was very focused and sharp. Immediately there was a good atmosphere.”

Yes, very focused and sharp.

Bennett continued:

“It was a great meeting. There was a feeling that we had known each other for a long time. I found a leader who loves Israel, knows exactly what he wants and is attentive to our needs.”

Yes, very attentive.

So what came out of the meeting and the subsequent one with the “working teams”?

Biden told Bennett that Israel should avoid any more marches that might inflame the Palestinians, and that Israel should avoid evicting the Palestinian squatters from Sheikh Jarrah, and that negotiations with Iran on their nuclear weapons program will continue (and if they fail, other options will be considered), and that he would consider a presidential directive exempting Israelis from visa requirements to enter the U.S.

There was an apparent commitment from Biden to replenish Israel’s dwindling supply of missile interceptors used by the Iron Dome.

And that was about it.

Except for this comment from one of Bennett’s cohorts about the “successful outcome”:

“We set four goals: liaising with the president and national security teams, sharing with them the strategy vis-à-vis Iran, asking for a Presidential directive regarding visas for Israelis, and hoping to lock up the replenishing of the Iron Dome inventory.”

Liaising, sharing, asking, and hoping: meager goals at best for a mediocre prime minister and mediocre government.
