Once again there is a striking contrast here between some in the government who want to declare that the 4th wave of Corona is over, and those such as Dr. Rahav who point to a disastrous situation in hospitals because of the current intensity of Corona. Throughout the entire Corona epidemic here in Israel, there has been a continual series of mixed messages which have left the Israeli public wondering what the actual situation is.

The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza border:
Incoming missile sirens blared in the areas you see in red below at 9:00 pm last night. The IDF reported that one incoming missile from Gaza was shot down; residents reported at least 2 explosions.
At least 2 missiles were fired at Sderot and surrounding areas (in red) at 9:00 pm last night.
In response to the missile fire, the IDF attacked the usual targets–after giving Hamas advance warning to make sure that none of their terrorists were in the buildings.
The IDF Spokesman issued this statement:
“Fighter jets and fighter helicopters attacked Hamas targets tonight (Sunday), including: a military compound with several underground rocket production workshops of the terrorist organization Hamas, a military training facility of the organization, a military camp with a site for storing weapons and a terrorist tunnel of the organization. The IDF will not accept a situation in which terrorist organizations act against the Israeli home front.”
What nonsense. Of course, the IDF will accept Hamas attacks–just like it has done for years. By the way, according to Hamas, the only things hit were agricultural fields.
In Jerusalem:
There were two stabbing attacks in Jerusalem.
In the first, a self-identified Palestinian doctor who actually practiced medicine in Assaf Arofe Hospital in Israel, suddenly took out a knife while walking near the Lions’ Gate and stabbed a Border Policeman. He was shot and killed; the policeman was moderately wounded:

Later in the evening, a Palestinian woman in her 60s attempted to stab a policeman. She was captured by police.
In Judea and Samaria:
Islamic Jihad terrorists armed with machine guns brazenly carried out a shooting attack against IDF soldiers at the Jalama Checkpoint near Jenin at about 10:15 pm. No soldiers were wounded; there is no word on terrorist casualties.
The daily Corona update . . .
Unfortunately, what we predicted several days before Rosh Hashana is now coming to fruition. What with virtually no restrictions on gatherings, large family holiday meals, and thousands of Israelis returning from vacations, the Corona situation is surging again.
Today’s numbers belie the nonsense being fed to us by the government that Corona is behind us:
10,084 more Israelis were confirmed yesterday as having Covid-19. There are now 83,930 active cases in the country.
The positive test rate yesterday was 6.60%.
1,169,217 Israelis have tested positive since the pandemic began last year.

What is Biden ‘s foreign policy? . . .
Yesterday, it was reported that the Biden Administration is removing American advanced missile defense systems out of Saudi Arabia despite ongoing missile attacks on Saudi Arabia by Iranian-proxy Houthis in Yemen.
In particular, they were removed from Prince Sultan Air Base outside of Riyadh.
Americans out of Afghanistan and handing over billions of dollars of military equipment to the Taliban which is already finding its way to Iran, and U.S. forces out of Syria opening the door to Iranian proxy groups there, and the Saudis left to fend for themselves against Iran: the message is clear that President Biden and his minions are giving Tehran a clear playing field to wreak havoc in the Middle East.

We Are Pathetically Afraid
If there is one message that Israel sent out yesterday to Hamas and Islamic Jihad following the capture of 4 of the 6 escapees, it is that Israel is terrified of an encounter with them.
Insofar as the escaped prisoners are concerned, you may recall that Islamic Jihad (5 of the escapees are members of Islamic Jihad), has warned Israel that if any one of their men are harmed in any way or killed during capture, it will launch missiles against Israel from Gaza.
This threat has sent our cowardly Israeli leaders running for cover.
Yesterday, Deputy Defense Minister Alon Schuster timidly said this in an interview with Ynet:
“The two remaining prisoners will be returned to Israeli prison. It will not be done at any cost, but by the appropriate means. They will be captured and they will be returned to the State of Israel for further detention. We have no intention of killing anyone, even if there is blood on his hands. I am satisfied with the non-violent arrest. That is how it should happen.”
Can you believe this?
Terrorists who have killed numerous Israelis (“blood on their hands”) and have escaped from a maximum security prison are to be “non-violently” arrested. No matter what the circumstances of their capture are, “we have no intention of killing anyone.”
Translated, Schuster’s real message was: “Dear Islamic Jihad, don’t worry, we are not going to harm your terrorists. Please, please, do not shoot missiles at us.”
By the way, following the capture of one of the terrorists yesterday, Muhammad Arda, an IDF officer unbelievably called Arda’s mother to tell her that her son was safe and that she had nothing to worry about.
If this wasn’t enough, PM Bennett and “Defense” Minister Gantz ordered the army “not to escalate” following the missile attack on Sderot last night. The IDF was told to inform residents of the South to “resume their usual routine” this morning–including sending children to school.
The order included the intent of the government to “close the event.”
Translated, the government’s real message was: “Dear Hamas and Islamic Jihad, go ahead and shoot your missiles. Don’t worry, we will only do what we always do and warn you in advance of any buildings we are going to hit. No matter what you do, we will not escalate the situation.”
To top all of this off, we had the absurd situation last night after the missile attack on Sderot of PM Bennett disregarding police advice not to allow Palestinian workers to return to Israel following the holiday closure. According to the police, it is likely that some of these workers might carry out terror attacks in Israel.
But, as noted, Bennett rejected this advice and ordered the closure lifted at midnight last night. His message was clear: “Go ahead and carry out terrorism in Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem, and along the Gaza border. Don’t worry. We are not going to restrict you from coming into Israel.”
What is the real message pathetically sent by Schuster, the IDF officer, PM Bennett, and “Defense” Minister Gantz?
We are afraid.
