The Photos of the Day
Yesterday, your humble servant and his wife participated in the “Women’s Walk” from Ashdod to Ashkelon to Yad Mordechai.
The walk was organized by mothers, wives, and girlfriends of IDF soldiers on the Gaza Border who were protesting how their loved ones are being denied the ability to defend themselves because of “Don’t Shoot” orders issued by the IDF General Command.
Some photos from the walk:
Earlier in the day your humble servant with “Shalom” near the Ashkelon Junction:

The exuberance of the walkers was inspiring:
We can only hope the impossible–that the IDF General Command was listening, and will issue new orders that will enable our soldiers to fire in real time when necessary without having to gain legal permission and analyze means and intent beforehand.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
On the Gaza border:
5 and a half hours later:
How did the IDF respond to these attacks?
According to the IDF Spokesman: “Fighting planes attacked four military outposts last night (Monday) with several targets inside which are Hamas terrorist assets. Once again, the terrorist organization Hamas chooses to act on the terrorist routes across the Gaza Strip. The IDF will not accept a situation in which terrorist organizations act against the Israeli home front.”
Just plain horse manure.
This is the same IDF which is now incredibly permitting more than 550 large trucks (with no monitoring) through the Kerem Shalom Crossing everyday which are transporting building materials that Hamas uses to build more tunnels and launch sites.
In Judea and Samaria:
Palestinian terrorists belonging to Islamic Jihad opened fire on IDF soldiers in the Palestinian settlement of Pekua and at Khursa.
A Palestinian terrorist armed with a knife was captured in Hevron at the Cave of the Patriarchs.
Palestinian terrorists using Molotovs tried to burn down the security fence at Kiryat Netafim.
Palestinian terrorists threw IEDs from a car at Israelis between Beit Fajjar and Migdal Oz.
Palestinian terrorists threw Molotovs and “rocks” at Israelis north of the British Police Junction, Lupine’aya, Beit El, on Road 55 between Kedumim and Fonduk, on the Jerusalem-Gush Etzion Road near Al-Khader, Aqraba, between Elon Moreh and Beit Furik, south of Amichai, and the Burka Junction among at least 2 dozen other places.
The daily Corona update . . .
7,686 more Israelis were confirmed yesterday as having Covid-19. There are now 80,759 active cases in the country.
The positive test rate yesterday was 5.24%.

TODAY’S BLOG:
Our Leftist Government’s Grand Plan For Gaza:
An Exercise In Folly
Yair Lapid, the former boxer and then television announcer who is now our Foreign Minister, spoke at the International Conference on Counter-Terrorism hosted by IDC Herzliya’s International Institute for Counter-Terrorism Sunday evening,
In his speech, he unveiled our coalition government’s grand plan for Gaza which he titled “Economy for Security.” It was a major rehash of junked proposals from the past.
This, he intoned, is the purpose of “Economy for Security”: “The purpose of the process is to create stability on both sides of the border. Civil, security, economic and diplomatic. The international community and the people of Gaza need to know that Hamas terrorism is what’s standing between them and a normal life.”
This is precisely the same balderdash that we reported on last week. For some reason that is beyond incomprehensible, our new government leaders believe that they can drive a wedge between Hamas and the people of Gaza (aka the Hamasniks). The entire purpose statement reads like the same liberal garbage that the West used in Afghanistan. The Israeli government no more knows what is normal in Gaza than the U.S. knew what was normal in Kabul.
Then Lapid laid out the specifics.
———-
In Phase 1:
1. The international community will use its influence to stop Hamas from arming itself.
Say what? What influence does the international community have over Hamas? And what person in his right mind thinks that Hamas is going to stop arming itself? In case anyone has forgotten, the Hamas charter–its very reason for existence–is to violently wipe Israel off the map.
2. The international community will strengthen efforts to stop smuggling and create an oversight mechanism to stop resources from going to Hamas.
Say what? Who in the international community is going to lift a finger to stop smuggling? And an oversight mechanism? Until three days ago, there was a U.N. oversight group in Gaza; now, Israel has discontinued its use (not that the U.N. monitors stopped anything from going to Hamas anyway).
3. The PLO will be given control of the borders crossings from Gaza into Israel–and this will be enshrined in a Security Coucil Resolution.
Whoa! The PLO will control border crossings? And this will be mandated by a U.N. Resolution–by the fraudulent Security Council of all groups?
Stage 2
After all of the above is supposedly accomplished:
4. An artificial island will be constructed off the coast of Gaza to create a massive new port serving Gaza.
This is a rehash of the boondoggle that former Likud Minister Israel Katz has been preaching for about a decade.
5. Industrial and employment zones will be built along the Gaza border near the Erez Crossing.
Isn’t this precisely along the lines of what Netanyahu was always proposing–and was the basis of his economy for security plan?
6. Israel will permit construction of a transportation link across Israel connecting Gaza with PLO territory in Judea and Samaria.
Holy Toledo! Another rehash. Unless your humble servant is mistaken, this is the same idiocy that Ehud Barak proposed in 2000 and Ehud Olmert in 2007–both of which were flatly rejected by Palestinians and Israelis alike.
———-
There is something in the liberal mindset that seems take over new governments. They believe that they will succeed where all before have failed. As aforestated, we saw it futilely play out in Afghanistan over the course of decades where the U.S. and others tried to remake Afghanistan in a Western image.
We see it now with the Biden Administration which seems hell-bent on embracing the “two-state solution” mantra that has plagued so many presidencies before from Clinton to Bush to Obama. The basic idea behind the two-state solution is to create a “Palestine” that has the same foundations as a Western democracy. It is a failed idea.
And now, a leftist Coalition government in Israel wants to remake Gaza over in Israel’s image.
It is an exercise in folly.
