Israel and the Comoros Islands appear to be on the verge of signing a “normalization” agreement. If the agreement materializes, Comoros will join the U.A.E., Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco on the list of Muslim countries who have regularized relations with Israel.

The second largest airline carrier at Ben Gurion Airport in terms of passengers carried is Ryanair–the low cost Irish airline. Thank goodness for Ryanair because it drives down the costs of tickets on other airlines.

There were various Rabin commemoration dust ups yesterday. Former PM Netanyahu was criticized for not going to the graveside service (who can blame him; he is always falsely criticized at these ceremonies for being responsible for Rabin’s murder), FM Lapid also did not attend a ceremony because he “had political meetings.”

Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Palestinian terrorists throwing “rocks” and Molotovs attacked Israelis on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road beside Al Aruv, at Beit Omer, Luban A-Sharqiya, near Halhul, and in Hevron and at another dozen+ places.

Another Israeli-Arab Killed By An Israeli-Arab

Another Israeli-Arab was murdered by an Israeli-Arab in Umm al-Fahm (in northern Israel) yesterday bringing to 101 the number of Israeli-Arabs killed by Israeli-Arabs so far this year.

Halil  Ja’o was gunned down just outside of his house. He was the sixth member of his family targeted this year. A brother was critically wounded in a previous attack.

To say that the crime situation in Israeli-Arab communities is out of control is to make a dramatic understatement.

Shimon Lavie, the Police Superintendent for  the Northern District of Israel offered these numbers yesterday. He began by pointing out that the Northern District has 1.3 million inhabitants of which 650,000 (1/2) are Israeli-Arabs.

These 650,000 are responsible for:

98% of the murders in the District

99% of the shooting incidents

80% of the robbery incidents

65% of the arson incidents

Lavie concluded his remarks by saying that there is a war on the streets. He might have added that there is a war because the Israeli police have surrendered control to the many Israeli-Arab gangs that roam the various towns and communities. Most of these gangs are based on family/tribal/clan allegiances.

The government seems to think that pouring money into these communities will bring the crime wave to a halt.

It won’t.

Until the Police reassert themselves, it will not make any difference how much money the government pumps into the crime-ridden areas.
