The Challah of this Shabbat!

Freshly out of the oven at a bakery in the Mea Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem. Doesn't it smell good? And notice all the other challot on the stands behind the baker.

It has been another night and morning of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and rainbows here in Israel:

A string of lightning over Tel Aviv.

And more lighting strings dancing over Petah Tikva:

Odd twists and turns during the storm.

All of which gave way to this rainbow over Binyamina this morning:

It almost looks like a photo from Ireland.

The Israeli government rushes to destroy the Yehuda Memorial

Yesterday, following the funeral of Yehuda Dimentman who was murdered by Palestinian terrorist gunfire near Shavei Shomron, a small group of his friends decided to construct a small building on a nearby hill to memorialize him.

In the top photo, you see the building being constructed. In the lower photo you see the finished building.

No sooner had the small building been put up than the Israeli Police under the direction of the Minister of Internal Security Omer Bar Lev, swooped in to destroy it.

All of which led Itamar Ben Gvir of the Knesset to post this:

“I came to Hill 16 outside of Kiryat Arba for Shabbat. The area is surrounded by thousands of illegal Palestinian homes. Yet Omer Bar Lev saw fit to send dozens of police just before the start of Shabbat to destroy the tiny building we put up as a memorial to Yehuda Dimentman. A shame and disgrace.”

Also a shame and disgrace was the fact that not one Coalition government member attended Yehuda’s funeral.

Including PM Bennett who was a no show.

Instead, Bennett posted this:

At this time Yehuda Dimentman is laid to rest.
A wise student full of love for Israel, with a constant smile on his face.

One of the words that has been repeated over and over again in stories about Judah is “mission.” A true man who engaged in Torah study and worked for the settlement of the land.

Following the disengagement, he chose to study at the Chumash Yeshiva.
Believed – and studied, without fear.

Last night he was shot to death while on his way home, guarding his infant son David. Judah was murdered only because he was a Jew living in his country. An inconceivable reality that we will never come to terms with.

We will not be silent until we have caught and punished the heinous murderers.
My deepest condolences to his wife, parents and the entire family.

The people of Israel will surely live in his land.
Of blessed memory.

You might say this was an eloquent statement but you would be wrong.

Since Bennett has been prime minister, he has broken every promise he ever made to the Jewish community members in Judea and Samaria.

The policies of Bennett’s coalition government are precisely what allow heinous murderers to attack Israelis near Chumash everyday.

Some of Bennett’s colleagues have even suggested that the children of those living in Judea and Samarialike Yehuda’s son Davidshould be taken away from their parents and put in foster homes.

“We will not be silent?” Bennett has been nothing but silent.
