Photos of the Rainy Day
It was another day of gully-washers as we used to say in the southern United States with flooded streets all over Israel. Here are a few photos:
And another:
The rainfall amounts from this “Carmel” storm from the heaviest hit (more than 100 mm) communities:
Zichron Yaacov 124 mm, Karni Shomron 120 mm, Gilad 116 mm, Beit Dagan 110 mm, Ariel 108 mm, Tel Mond 103 mm, Tel Aviv 102 mm, and Birkat Ram 101 mm.
The Israeli Food of the Day
So What’s Good To Eat On A Cold Rainy Day?
How about some “Israeli Freekeh Vegetable Soup” (I call it “freaky soup”) which is not really vegetable but a mixture of chicken broth, carrots, zucchini, onions, and noodles–like a combination of chicken noodle soup and vegetable soup:
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
A Palestinian terrorist attempted to run over IDF soldiers at Pillbox 185 near Mevo Dotan in northwestern Samaria. Our troops opened fire and apparently hit the terrorist whose car then rammed into a parked military jeep.
The Palestinian’s car exploded in flames, and he was burned to death as both his car and the jeep were engulfed with flames. Remarkably, two IDF soldiers tried to rescue him, but fortunately did not. They had to be treated afterwards for smoke inhalation. Finally, firemen arrived on the scene to extinguish the fires.
On the Corona front . .
Israel’s “Health Ministry epidemic team” approved another booster for those 60 years of age or older along with those who are at risk because of compromised immune systems. This will be the 4th dose of vaccine for this segment of the population. It is to be taken no sooner than 4 months after the 3rd dose was received.
From the ridiculous to the absurd . . .
The Egyptians report that the negotiations between Israel and Palestinian Hamas in Gaza have completely broken down over the issue of releasing terrorist prisoners from Israeli prisons, and that Hamas has sent a threatening message that it will renew missile attacks unless Israel submits a new proposal.

Desperately rushing “to formulate a new proposal for Hamas to prevent a security deterioration on the southern front.”
It is amazing how the IDF General Command trembles at the thought of a confrontation with Hamas.
For all of Bennett’s humbling himself and Israel before Joe Biden . . .
It appears that Biden is not impressed.
It was reported last night that Biden has refused to take Bennett’s phone calls for the last three weeks–as Bennett has continuously attempted to discuss the Iranian issue with the American president.
Of course we all know why Biden doesn’t want to talk about Iran with Bennett. It is simply because Biden is hell-bent on returning to the JCPOA agreement with Iran and could care less what Bennett thinks about it.
TODAY’S BLOG:
President Herzog Confirms Israel’s Pathetic Vassal State Status
In a number of recent blogs describing how Israel is kowtowing continuously to the Biden Administration, your humble servant has referred to Israel as a vassal-state of the United States.
I’m sure that you dear readers thought that this was a gross exaggeration.
The events of yesterday prove otherwise.
As you know, Yehuda Dimentman was murdered in a terrorist shooting attack earlier this week. As you might not remember, he was studying Torah at the Chomesh Yeshiva.
It is a yeshiva that was constructed several years ago at the site of the Jewish community which was unilaterally and forcibly evacuated by then PM Ariel Sharon during the Gaza disengagement in 2005 (one of 4 Samarian communities evacuated). The yeshiva was so close to Yehuda’s his heart that he once commented that if he was told that he had only one day to live, he would spend it studying Torah study there.
Now it turns out that almost as a reward for the terrorism, the government plans to raze the yeshiva–and in fact, set up a temporary military base there two days ago.
Fast forward to yesterday.
President Yitzhak Herzog arrived at the mourning shiva of the Dimentman family to comfort them about Yehuda’s murder.
The family thanked him and told him they had only one request, that the Chomesh Yeshiva not be destroyed.
Herzog’s response was beyond astonishing.
He told the family that their request had merit, but that he would have to pass the request to U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan who is visiting Israel this week.
Your humble servant wants to scream at the world “What has happened to Israel?”
It is apparent now that no decision can be made about any facet of life here without first getting the approval of the United States.
