It was reported last night that 40 people who had active cases of Corona attempted to board a flight and were caught by the police. In addition, “dozens” of foreigners with fake vaccination certificates were caught as they went through Israel’s airport Covid check and were immediately deported.

The Disgraceful Lack and Withholding of Electricity
Heavy snowfall impacted much of northern and central Israel last night with temperatures in many areas at 0 degrees C or lower. It was the coldest night of the year.
The all-time power usage record was broken with 14,735 megawatts consumed by customers trying to keep warm (the previous record was 13,182 megwatts in the winter of 2020).
However, numerous Israelis were without power: many of the young Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria which the government refuses to attach to the country’s electrical grid, the Nachlaot neighborhood of Jerusalem, two entire communities in the Binyamin area, and numerous residences in which customers were not up-to-date on utility payments.
So many people were in the latter category, that the Israel High Court of Justice issued an emergency ruling last night ordering their electricity turned back on with the opinion that having electricity is “a right”, and that the Israel Electric Company must figure out a different way to collect overdue payments.
The lack of electricity—and even withholding of electricity—is a disgrace.
