Photos of the Day
Spring is not far away, and Israel is already abloom.
Another lovely sunset, this one at Ma’aleh Adumim:
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
IDF troops raided a house in Hevron overnight and found this armory:
Palestinian terrorists attempted to burn down the security fence at Psagot.
Palestinian terrorists attempted to kill Israelis with Molotovs and “rocks” at dozens of locations including the Gilad axis, Huwara, Einbus Square, and the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road near Beit Omer.
The daily Corona update . . .
60,359 new cases of Corona were diagnosed yesterday bringing to 431,481 the number of active cases in the country.
The positive test rate was 26.14%.
1,112 are in serious condition; 348 in critical.
8,927 Israelis have died according to the Health Ministry database—an unbelievable increase of 1 since yesterday.
As we noted yesterday, there is something seriously askew about the Health Ministry’s reportage of deaths. We went from a jump of 202 yesterday to a jump of 1 today.
Soaring prices continue unabated . . .

This morning MADA reported that there will be an increase of some 5% in the cost of transporting a person to a hospital by ambulance. This is just the latest in a series of price hikes that have left Israelis reeling.
As we have previously reported, Israeli giant food producer Osem was also set to raise prices, but apparently has postponed the increases in the face of a projected boycott of its myriad of products:
What is infuriating Israelis even more has been the almost lackadaisical attitude of Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman who wants to continue telling Israelis how good they have it–that the rest of the world has higher prices. Of course, Lieberman’s declarations are pure bunkum.
Today, Lieberman was spotted in a vegetable market buying food and was berated by a shopper for the price increases. You can click here to see the encounter and listen to the man yelling at Lieberman. You don’t need to understand Hebrew to get the gist of the conversation.
TODAY’S BLOG
Another Bombshell Revelation in the Netanyahu Trial
It was a mere 4 days ago that your humble servant wrote a blog in which I pointed out:
“Pegasus software developed by the Israel cybersurveillance firm NSO was being used around the world by various entities to hack into everything from government computers to individual cellphones.”
I went on to point out the new revelation that:
” . . . the Israel Police have been using Pegasus since 2013 to spy on Israeli citizens–primarily activists on both ends of the political spectrum, municipal officials, and pretty much anyone the police feel like investigating.”
Finally, I noted that:
“the police say that they are closely monitored, but in fact, there is little evidence that there is any oversight at all.”
Today came the bombshell news that the Police used the spyware on a potential witness’s phone–without obtaining a warrant–in an attempt to force that witness, Former Communications Director Shlomo Pilber, to testify against Netanyahu in Case 4000 involving alleged bribery.
As reported today in Arutz Sheva:
“Police used an intrusive spyware program without the permission of one of the main people involved in the cases of former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to an investigation currently underway at the Ministry of Justice, Channel 13 reported.
According to the report, extensive mobile content that includes photos, phone numbers, correspondence history and use of various apps was extracted by the police without a proper warrant.”
There is even a recording in which a policeman conducting an interview of Pilber mentions that what they are doing is “illegal.”
As you can imagine, former PM Netanyahu and the other defendants in this case have quickly pounced on this information and are demanding that charges be dismissed.
That is highly unlikely given the way that the Israeli judiciary regularly overlooks police misconduct. If you recall, the court in the infamous Duma case actually ruled that the main defendant had been tortured into giving a confession yet found him guilty anyway based on what it called a “preponderance of the evidence.”
As we all know by now, the Attorney General’s office, police, and judicial system are hell-bent on convicting Netanyahu.
