The battles continue in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem. Knesset Legislator Itamar Ben Gvir has promised to remain there until there is appropriate security for Jewish residents. After being assaulted by police this past week, Ben Gvir was back at his “Knesset table” yesterday when a crowd of Palestinians arrived and taunted him.
The Jokes of the Day
You will recall the utter failure of Israeli defenses two days ago to shoot down a single drone launched into northern Israel by Hezbollah.
As that drone flew over Israel for almost an hour and at a depth of some 25 miles, air raid alarms sounded in cities such as Tiberias and Tzfat. After all, there was no knowledge as to what the drone was carrying–and the government has been warning for more than a year that the drones could be loaded with missiles or bombs.
Last night, senior Defense Ministry officials incredibly said it was “a mistake” to activate the alarm.
Why?
No reason was given.
However, the officials said that the “Air Force” will learn “lessons” from the incident and that it is always on alert against drone incursions.
What a joke on both counts. Numerous drones have entered Israel from Lebanon, yet the event of two days ago shows that no lesson has been learned. As for always being alert against drone incursions?
Another ridiculous joke.

The ever babbling Benny Gantz spouted another humanitarian anemones speech in Munich yesterday–this time addressing Vladimir Putin: “As someone who knew wars, I know that the winner also loses in them. As clouds of war approach – the leaders’ responsibility is to calm the spirits, to promote discourse, and to uphold the principles that will preserve world peace and security.”
Your humble servant is certain that Putin could care less what our rambling Defense Minister poet wannabe has to say.
However one thing Gantz said is correct. Benny Gantz certainly knows about losing wars–such as the one he lost in 2014 against Hamas when he made his infamous anemones speech.

A National Strategic Threat
After a weekend that saw another two dozen + Palestinian terror attacks in Judea and Samaria, we were treated to Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz saying that “settler violence in a national strategic threat.”
When Horowitz says “settler”, he is referring to “Israelis living in Area C.”
Settler violence is a national strategic threat? A national strategic threat is this government tolerating endless attacks on Israelis while at the same time trying to eradicate young Jewish communities and trying to build up Palestinian ones.
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
