The Joke of the Day
“The agreement that is being formed with Iran is worse than its predecessor. We are not subject to this agreement. We have a strong army and our determined government will not hesitate to act.”
FM Yair Lapid speaking yesterday about the impending agreement between Iran and the P5+1 in Vienna
Yes, the agreement is worse, but the thought that this weak-kneed government would not hesitate to use military options in complete defiance of the Biden Administration is nothing but an absurd joke.
The News on the Israeli Street
The daily Corona update . . .
17,676 new cases of Corona were confirmed yesterday bringing to 118,196 active cases in the country.
The positive test rate was 19.6%.
786 people are hospitalized in very serious condition; another 306 are in critical condition on ventilators.
10,001 Israelis have died—an increase of 160 since yesterday.
In sum, the most horrendous statistic is 160 Israelis dead in the last 24 hours.
Palestinian terrorism in the last 24 hours . . .
Palestinian terrorists threw “rocks” and Molotovs from a car toward Israeli motorists between Kiryat Arba and Beit Anun.
Palestinian terrorists threw “rocks” and Molotovs at buses near Lupine Aya, on the Gush Etzion Hevron Road near the HaOfakim Junction, and in the area of Jitflik.
Palestinian terrorists threw “rocks” and Molotovs at such places as Tekoa, Al Abud, Luban a-Sharqiya, near Tapuach, and in the vicinity of Hizma.
The whitewash continues . . .
Not surprisingly, the leaders of our Coalition government are anxious to put the Pegasus spyware scandal behind them–especially because they don’t want it to benefit former PM Netanyahu in his trial.
Today, FM Yair Lapid had this to say: “At first when it was published I demanded a state commission of inquiry, but we now have no evidence to base it on.”
If there is no evidence, it is simply because the police destroyed it.
Speaking of our government . . .
All legislation in the Knesset has ground to a halt because Benny Gantz has instructed his party members to not vote for any Coalition sponsored bills until PM Bennett knuckles under to his commands on spending.
Gantz pretends it is all about security but it is really about pensions for his old army buddies.
TODAY’S BLOG
10,000 And Counting
This will be one of our shortest blogs on record.
The number speaks for itself: More than 10,000 Israelis have now died of Corona.
And this quote today from Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman speaks for the government’s indifferent attitude.
When asked about the fact that nearly 1500 Israelis have died in the last six weeks, Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman glibly commented: “I’m totally okay with that. Everyone takes risks whether driving a car or catching Corona.”
Such is the attitude of our government.
