By the way, there are at least 400,000 Jews living in the Ukraine.

The Atrocious Quote of the Day
“This neighborhood has become a symbol of the Palestinian struggle against the occupation, arrogance, racism, oppression and Judaization of Jerusalem.
While we are here in Sheikh Jarrah we must not forget the colonialist settlement attack in Silwan and Jabal al-Mukaber that was intended to demolish houses and evict their residents from them.
All this is happening as part of the Jerusalem Judaization project, which will never be Judaized, because it is a Palestinian Arab city on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher where, for its mosques and churches, it was Palestinian Arab and will remain so.”
Ahmed Tibi, member of the Israeli Knesset. Tibi was speaking in Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and was accompanied by 4 other members of the Knesset.
Democracy and free speech are one thing; however, comments like this which undermine the state of Israel and the status of Jerusalem are something else entirely.
How did we ever get to a point in Israel in which elected representatives in our own Knesset feel free to incite Palestinians to violence with statements like the above. Tibi’s statement is not unlike the famous example that free speech does not allow a person to shout “Fire!” in a crowded theater.

The Russian Invasion of Ukraine: Implications for Israel
An extremely perceptive post from Likud legislator Maj. Gen (Res.) Yoav Gallant appeared this morning on Facebook:
“The harsh reality that befalls Ukraine is a warning sign for the future, and also a reaffirmation of the national security perception that has been practiced for the last hundred years by the people of Zion.
Returning to the Land of Zion and Jerusalem has been the dream of millions of Jews throughout 2000 years of exile – the lesson of generations is that it is our top duty to continue to ensure our ability to defend ourselves with our own strengths against every threat and every enemy.
Everyone who trusts in the mobilization of the world to help us in times of need errs in the imagination.
The events taking place at this time in Europe are a living example of the need to continue to fortify the IDF and strengthen the Zionist hold throughout the country – especially in the Negev, Galilee, Judea, Samaria and Golan.”
Gallant’s words could not be more true.
Israel cannot rely on other countries to defend us any more than Ukraine can count on other countries to come to its military aid.
At best, an attack on Israel would result in the same sort of useless economic sanctions on the attacker as are now being put into place against Russia.
What deters aggressors like Putin is strength–a lesson that Jews have learned the hard way over the generations, and a lesson that Israel took to heart in its War of Independence and the years afterward.
Unfortunately, it is a lesson that has been forgotten by our current government.
Wherever we look such as in the Negev, Galilee, Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem, and along our Lebanese and Gazan borders, all we see is weakness.
It is a weakness that our enemies are not hesitating to exploit.
