The Farce That Is The United Nations
Israelis do not need to be told that the U.N. is a pathetic farce. Over the decades, as we have seen resolution after resolution falsely condemning Israel of human rights abuses being passed by countries whose very existence is built on human rights abuses, we have come to recognize the U.N. for the hollow amoral organization that it is.
This morning, the United Nations sent out a memo to all U.N. workers to stop using the word “war” or the word “invasion” to refer to what is happening in the Ukraine.
Why?
Because according to the U.N. administration, the U.N. and its cohort of international civil servants must remain “impartial.”
Impartial? How can an organization supposedly dedicated to “peace” remain impartial in describing what Russia is doing in Ukraine?
The U.N. is nothing but a farce.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Palestinian terrorists attacked hikers in Wadi Kelt below Kfar Adumim.
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs on Road 55 between Ma’ale Shomron and Azzun, Kochav Yaakov, Ofra, between Adam and Hizma, on Road 465 near Deir Abu Mash’al, on Road 446 near the Netof Quarries, and near the Gush Etzion Junction among other places.
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israeli buses at Givat Assaf, Huwara, and Hizma.
Extensive Palestinian rioting has been taking place in Silat Khartiyah, where a room belonging to the terrorist who murdered Yehuda Dimentman was destroyed yesterday.
What is Israel’s response to this terror? . . .
“Defense” Minister Gantz has begun talks with the PLO to provide “economic relief” to the Palestinians in advance of the coming month of Ramadan.
The more terror the Palestinians perpetrate, the more our idiotic government gives them.
So, from a Palestinian PLO perspective, there is nothing to lose and everything to gain by inciting murderous terrorism.
The daily Corona update . . .
4,769 new cases of Corona were confirmed yesterday bringing to 48,408 the total number of Israelis with an active case of Covid-19.
The positive test rate was 8.04%.
429 Israelis are in serious condition in hospitals with another 204 in critical condition on ventilators.
10,322 Israelis have died of Corona–5 since yesterday.
On the Iranian front . . .
It was reported yesterday that in order to preserve the impending Iranian Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Agreement, the Biden Administration is hiding the fact that two members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards attempted to assassinate former U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton several years ago.
Apparently there is enough evidence to move forward with an indictment of the would-be assassins, but Biden and his minions do not want to do anything to rock the boat–particularly since one element of the deal seems to be removing sanctions from the Revolutionary Guards.
Continued good news (sort of ) on the economic front . . .
The Israeli deficit registered a 1% decline in February–dropping from 3.2% in January to 2.2%.
Not only that but the government reported a 4 billion shekel budget surplus in February.
Where is the money coming from?
Abnormally high revenue of 384 billlion shekels from taxes in 2021.
Of these taxes, 32% come from VAT taxes, 30% from income taxes, 12% from corporate taxes, and the rest from other sources.
In other words, Israelis are paying more money in taxes which makes the government more solvent.
TODAY’S BLOG
“Routine Procedure”
You will recall from yesterday’s blog that two Border Policemen were stabbed at the Cotton Gate. Both of those policemen are in the hospital in serious condition–one of them still anesthetized after surgery.
You will also recall that the terrorist was shot and killed by another policeman as he continued to stab yelling “Allahu Akbar”.
This morning comes news that the Police internal investigations unit is opening an investigation into the policeman who eliminated the terrorist.
Can you believe this?
Less than 24 hours have passed; the two Border Police are in the hospital; and the Policeman who saved their lives is under investigation.
When asked about this today, a spokesman for internal affairs declared that it is “routine procedure”.
Routine procedure?
What is routine procedure is throwing our policeman and soldiers under the bus when they act to protect us from the routine stabbing, “rock”, Molotov, and shooting attacks that we face.
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
