The Ridiculous “Disappointment” of the Day
The following statement was issued by PM Bennett’s office today after his conversation with U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres:
“The Prime Minister expressed his disappointment at the lack of UN condemnation of the weekend rocket fire at Israel.”
Simply ridiculous. Why?
Because PM Bennett, FM Lapid, and “Defense” Minister Gantz ordered that the IDF not respond at all to the missile fire–except to close the Erez Crossing for one day.
No going after rocket launchers, no going after terrorists, “no nothing.”
And then Bennett has the gall to criticize the U.N. for not condemning the rocket fire.
It is beyond ridiculous.
More from the conversation with Guterres as reported by Bennett’s office:
“In the conversation, the Prime Minister said that . . . Israel is the stabilizing force [on the Temple Mount] – if we did not establish order – tens of thousands of Muslims would not be able to pray. There are people who prepared stones and Molotov cocktails in advance for use inside the mosque.”
Does anyone really believe–no matter how true this statement is– that the world will embrace this fact for one second? Does anyone really believe that Israel is protecting the Muslim right to pray on the Mount? Bennett’s naivete is breathtaking.
Speaking of breathtaking . . .
We had another “situational assessment” this morning with “Defense Minister Benny Gantz, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi, and GSS Chief Ronen Bar.
At the end of the meeting, Gantz issued this “brilliant” (pardon the cynicism) statement: “I have now completed an assessment of the situation in the Southern Command. The security forces continue to deploy and operate in all sectors to protect Israeli citizens. Israel works against terrorists, and at the same time, allows freedom of worship.”
The fact is that the IDF under Gantz and Kochavi does little to protect Israeli citizens on the southern border even to the point of not responding at all to missile fire over the weekend.
But Gantz could care less about the missile fire on our citizens. All he cares about is “freedom of worship” for Palestinians.
TODAY’S BLOG
4,625 and we are supposed to be happy?
The Passover week is over, and we have the final numbers on how many Jews were permitted to go up to the Temple Mount during the holiday.
And the total is . . . 4,625.
Out of 7 million Jews who live in Israel, our government allowed 4,625 to go up to the Mount, the holiest place in Judaism.
4,625 . . . for the week of Passover–or about 660 per day.
Believe it or not, this 4,625 number is supposed to be cause for rejoicing. After all, it is almost double the number from last year and about seven times that of six years ago.
4,625.
Let’s compare it for a moment to the number of Muslims who are being allowed on the Temple Mount during Ramadan.
It is estimated that by the time Ramadan finishes in a few days more than 1,000,000 Muslims will have gone to the Mount.
1,000,000 Muslims or about 33,333 per day.
4,625 is no cause for rejoicing.
It is a number of abject shame and embarrassment.
