The 7-Second Video of the Day
The terrorists open fire from passing vehicles, speed away, and then post their terrorism on youtube (which does nothing to filter out terror).
The Interesting Fact of the Morning
Do you want to know why Israel has dropped all pretense of trying to prevent Covid-19?
The first national Israeli serological study was published yesterday which found that 96% of the Israeli population now has corona antibodies. In short, herd immunity has arrived.
The News on the Israeli Street
The ultra-orthodox and the economy . . .
Amazing numbers from the ultra-orthodox sector: 81% of ultra-orthodox women are now employed–a percentage that is even higher that the percentage pre-Corona—and in excess of the government’s goal for the year 203o!
Remember that this is the percentage of ultra-orthodox women. Only 50.3% of ultra orthodox men are employed.
The Coalition bows to Biden, again . . .
Benny Gantz, our absurd “Minister of Defense”, announced yesterday that the yeshiva at Homesh will not be evacuated until after Joe Biden’s visit to Israel–a visit that no one seems to know when will take place.
The problem is that the evacuation of the yeshiva will likely bring down the government and Gantz wants to be in power when his friend arrives.
A new day for El Al in the U.S. . . .
El Al announced today that it will no longer have its U.S. headquarters in New York. It is moving to Miami where the rent is less expensive and the weather is milder. It is estimated that the company will save about $500,000 a year.
A new day for Israeli security . . .
Israel is creating a “National Guard” to deal with domestic disturbances (aka “riots”).
To begin with, 1,000 volunteer fighters between the ages of 21-50 will be assigned to Border Police reserve units.
Some of the fighters are in fact transfers from IDF reserve units. They must undergo security training and will be volunteering for 12 hours per month.
TODAY’S BLOG
Baa. Baa. Baa. Israel has been reduced to sheep.
As we have previously reported, the country will be celebrating Jerusalem Day on May 29th. Your humble servant will be going to Jerusalem to report on the events firsthand and to march in the Flag Parade.
As has been the case in recent years, the Flag Parade is engendering much controversy as everyone from Hezbollah in Lebanon to Erdogan in Turkey is warning Israel not to go through with the parade as currently routed–routes that in the past have taken marchers through the Jaffa Gate and through the Damascus Gate.
Hamas in particular is blustering its usual threats to shoot missiles at Israel if the march takes place.
So what has our pusillanimous government done?
According to the Egyptians and Hamas, Israel has begged Hamas not to fire at us by promising:
*the parade will not deviate from the route in previous years.
*the Israel Police will limit the number of participants in the March.
*the Israel Police will prevent provocations against Palestinians during the march.
*Israel assures that there will be no change in the existing situation at the Al-Aksa Mosque, and that the parade will not go there.
Baa. Baa. Baa. Israel has been reduced to sheep.
And what was the Hamas and PLO response today?
Hamas and the PLO have called on the Muslim public to go en masse to Jerusalem this weekend to fight to protect Al-Aksa.
