The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

Another car attack in Samaria yesterday. Note the baby stroller in the back.
Both the passengers and the baby in the car were treated for injuries.
More than a dozen other attacks took place in such places as Lubin a-Sharqiya, Tekoa, Al-Abud, on Road 443, and near Kiryat Arba.
Palestinian terrorists attacked multiple Israeli buses with Molotovs between Hizma and Anatot.
The return of Corona . . .
It actually never left but has been merely ignored by the government and general population.
The numbers from yesterday:
3,732 Israelis tested positive bringing to 18,038 the number of active patients in the country.
The positive test rate was 18.8%; the coefficient of infection remains at 1.1%.
97 Israelis are seriously ill; 29 are critically ill—25 of these are on ventilators.
10,867 have died, 4 in the last 24 hours.
Minimum requirements for women in the IDF . . .
The IDF provided the following physical requirement updates to the Israel High Court of Justice in response to a petition brought by female soldiers in the IDF.
In order to serve in elite units (excluding those listed below):
Minimum Height: 1.66 meters
Minimum Weight: 78 kg
3000 meter run: less than 14 min and 50 seconds
Stress increases: 10
In order to serve in regular combat units:
Minimum Height: 1.64 meters
Minimum Weight: 67 kg
In making these updates, the IDF pointed out that its super elite units–Sayeret Matkal (army commandos behind enemy lines), Shayetet 13 (naval commandos), Shaldag, the IDF commando brigade, and the Israel Navy Submarine Unit— will all remain closed to women.

Gideon Sa’ar: Just Another Slimy Politician
Once thought to be a rising star, Gideon Saar’s machinations over the past few days have revealed him to be nothing more than a slimy politician like other leaders of the Coalition government.
After all the drama of the last few days concerning whether or not the government would fall, the end result is that there is no change.
Gideon Sa’ar has completely backtracked from his statements about not being able to remain in the Coalition if the Emergency Judea and Samaria Law did not pass, and in fact said today that the events of the last few days have underscored the fact that he could never support a government with Benjamin Netanyahu as Prime Minister.
In short, Sa’ar’s ploy once again shows just how disingenuous members of the current Coalition are with another threat to leave the Coalition every hour of the day. Any “I’m going to leave the Coalition” news that comes out of the mouths of Coalition politicians is just blather.
In sum, Sa’ar’s newest declarations mean that any hope of forming a new government without new elections is dead.
And no one is in a rush for new elections.
By the way, the Emergency Judea and Samaria Law will come up for a new vote in the next week or two at which time it is expected to pass overwhelmingly. Neither the Coalition government nor the Opposition really wants to abandon the Jewish community members in Judea and Samaria–any more than they already have.
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
