The Joke of the Morning
Social media was abuzz yesterday with “news” being disseminated by the Iranians that one of their drone strikes near Idlib had killed a “Mossad commander.” The report was picked up by numerous media and spread until . . . the Iranians revealed that they even had the name of the commander:
Asa Flots
Which means in Hebrew: “Made a Fart”.
The laughter on the Israeli TV news last night was nonstop.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Palestinian snipers in Gaza fired bullets at farmers working their fields along the border. The ever dissembling and never-to-be-believed IDF spokesman announced shortly thereafter that the snipers were not really shooting at us–instead, the bullets came from two Gaza clans fighting each other.
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with IEDs, Molotovs, and “rocks” at Singil, Shavei Shomron, on road 55 near the Ginspot Junction, on Road 55 between Nabi Elias and the Eliyahu Pass, on Road 465 near Neve Tzuf and at two dozen other locations.
More than one million shekels were confiscated in a raid on a Hamas house in Halhul.
The daily Corona update . . .
4,734 Israelis tested positive yesterday bringing to 24,295 the number of active patients in the country.
The positive test rate was 22.26%; the coefficient of infection rose to 1.28%.
81 Israelis are seriously ill; 29 are critically ill—20 of these are on ventilators.
10,867 have died, none in the last 24 hours.
Iran marches toward a nuclear bomb . . .
(If it doesn’t already have one) . . . The Iranians brazenly informed the IAEA yesterday that it has disconnected 27 IAEA surveillance cameras (all the ones installed since 2015). These include the cameras at Iran’s primary uranium/centrifuge facility at Natanz.
The delusional world of our Finance Minister . . .
Avigdor Liberman was out with another ludicrous statement yesterday. When confronted by the ever-soaring rental and sale prices of real estate here, Liberman angrily said: “There is no increase in rental prices in Israel, except perhaps on 3 streets in Tel Aviv.”
And then he uttered this whopper: “There are no price increases in Israel.”
Your humble servant would like to invite Liberman to come down to Ashdod to accompany me to a real estate office, gasoline station, supermarket, pharmacy, restaurant, hardware store, and everywhere else.
All Israelis know that prices are out of control. What planet is Liberman living on?
TODAY’S BLOG:
Lapid and Biden Move To Undermine Israel
Two outrageous revelations were made yesterday.
We have known for the last year that Naftali Bennett, Yair Lapid, and Benny Gantz would do anything and everything to stay in power. Most of what they have done involves money, such as the billions of shekels the government doled out to the Islamist Ra’am Party for their 4 votes in the Knesset.
Having a government that operates according to the dictates of an Islamist anti-Israel Party is bad enough, but yesterday, an egregious offer that was made by Yair Lapid to Ghaida Zoabi to keep her in the Coalition last week came to light.
According to Zoabi, Lapid promised her in return for her vote in the Knesset that Israel will permit the residents of two former Arab villages of Iqrit (16 miles northeast of Akko) and Bir’im (6 miles northwest of Tzfat) who fled the country in 1948 to return. Presumably, Lapid’s offer applies not only to the actual residents but also to their generations of descendants.
Can you even begin to imagine how dangerous and outrageous this is? It affirms a Palestinian right of return to Israel with the obvious implications that the country would be overrun by some 6 million “Palestinian refugees” (according to the U.N.). It would mean the end of Israel.
All of this for 1 vote to keep the Coalition afloat.
If this isn’t outrageous enough, the Biden Administration revealed yesterday that it is doing all it can to undermine a united Jerusalem.
The U.S.revealed through a tweet that it is changing the name of the Palestinian Affairs Unit that operated in the American Embassy to Israel to the “U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs in Jerusalem.”
Where this “Office” will now be located is unknown. Even if it is still in the American Embassy building, the tweet let it be known that those in the new “Office” will not report to Washington via the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, but instead will have their own direct channel to the White House via Biden’s Near Eastern Affairs Bureau in the U.S. State Department.
In sum, this move by Biden completely reverses the restructuring made by the Trump Administration, and establishes a de facto Palestinian consulate in Jerusalem.
In doing so, Biden and his cronies have announced to the world that Israel’s capital of Jerusalem is divided with the eastern section belonging to “Palestine.”
And so it goes on this Friday here in Israel.
