Special Notice:
We here at OneIsrael would like to with all Americans a very happy 4th of July. Various polls and articles in the last week have suggested that many Americans are no longer proud of the U.S.A. Your humble servant (who is a dual Israeli-American citizen) is most assuredly not one of those. I would like to invite you to come to beach in front of our house here in Ashdod tonight at 6:30 pm and celebrate our 30th annual 4th of July Beach Party!
Please take a moment to donate to OneIsrael. Your contributions are essential to help us get the word out about what is happening here on the ground in Israel.
Quote of the Day
“We feel great relief when Lapid takes office. There is no doubt that he is better than the rest of the options for us. We expect to hear from him in public what he has said in the past in closed rooms. This is a window of opportunity.”
PLO Senior Official Muhammad Majadra
Of course PM Lapid is better than other options because he is an avowed leftist who is perfectly willing to give the Palestinians anything they want.
The News on the Israeli Street
The concessions start coming . . .
Your humble servant wrote this three days ago:
“Though the media likes to describe Lapid’s Yesh Atid Party as “centrist”, Lapid has always been on the left politically which is part of the reason he was so warmly congratulated by U.S. President Biden and U.S. Secretary of State Blinken this morning. Both of them obviously want to soften Lapid up in advance of Biden’s visit on July 13–a visit during which they will, as always, demand “concessions for peace” on the part of Israel. Unfortunately, Lapid is just the one to make those concessions.”
Yesterday we found out that Biden has indeed demanded concessions, and Lapid has apparently agreed to at least two of them:
*Allow the PLO to have a presence at the Allenby Crossing.
[As we have previously written, giving the PLO even a symbolic presence at Allenby means giving it a foothold in the Jordan Valley].
*Establish joint PLO-Israeli security in Area B.
[This is a contravention of the Oslo Accords, and a further diminution of Israeli rights in Judea and Samaria. According to the Accords, Israel has complete Security Authority over Area B.]
Who knows what else Israel will agree to prior to Biden’s visit?
The daily Corona update . . .
6,882 Israelis tested positive yesterday (out of 16,197 tested) bringing to 101,982 the number of active patients in the country.
The positive test rate was 42.49%; the coefficient of infection was 1.07%.
344 Israelis are seriously ill; 58 are critically ill—47 of these are on ventilators.
10,978 have died–an increase of 20 since Friday.
The 42.49% positive test rate and 101,982 active cases in the country are simply breathtaking. Practically every other person getting tested in Israel is positive.
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
13 wanted terrorists were captured in Judea and Samaria overnight.
Palestinian terrorists attacked our forces in Beituniya and Jenin. 4 heavily armed terrorists were captured.
TODAY’S BLOG
The “Bullet”
So now, after some 54 days, the PLO has agreed to turn over the bullet that killed Al-Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh to an American forensic team.
In making the announcement, the PLO declared: “We will not give the bullet that killed Shireen Abu Aqleh to Israel at all. Due to our belief that the occupying forces fired the bullet, we have agreed that the Americans examine it. We received several guarantees from the American coordinators that the bullet will not be passed to Israel.”
What will happen is that the PLO will give the bullet to the Americans who will keep it in their “possession” while Israeli forensic scientists examine it.
It is hard to imagine a bigger farce.
How in the world do we really know that the bullet is the one that killed the reporter?
How do we know that in the past 54 days, the PLO did not take an Israeli rifle (they have stolen hundreds) and Israeli ammunition (easily obtained), fire countless bullets into some carcass until obtaining a “suitable” one, and “residue” the bullet with the reporter’s blood thereby producing the “bullet” that killed her.
Obviously, the PLO would not turn over a bullet that could in any way be tied to the PLO.
The bigger questions are why in the world would Israel agree to go along with the examination of a bullet whose provenance can not possibly be determined? And why would Israel go along with a farce that is guaranteed to “show” that an IDF soldier fired “the bullet”?
What is more, the press conference at which the results of the “bullet” examination will be revealed will almost certainly come when President Biden arrives in 10 days.
And therein, it would appear that we have the answer to the questions.
