The Unbelievable Photos of the Day
The disastrous situation at Ben Gurion Airport these days is not limited to overcrowding and long lines. Suitcases are being taken off airplanes by airport employees, dumped both outside and inside the airport, looted, and declared “lost.”

There are literally tens of thousands of such suitcases at the airport. The bottom line: bring a suitcase to Israel with you at your own risk.
By the way, the one millionth tourist to Israel of 2022, Belinda Desoyo Lee of the U.A.E., arrived yesterday. It is amazing to think that one million tourists have come in the four months since the country opened again on March 1.

Today’s Corona update . . .
5,672 Israelis tested positive yesterday (out of 13,718 tested) bringing to 66,002 the number of active patients in the country.
The positive test rate was 41.35%; the coefficient of infection was 0.99%.
392 Israelis are seriously ill; 83 are critically ill—65 of these are on ventilators.
11,068 have died.
Given the positive test rate, one would think that more people would get tested–but that is not the case. Relatively few tested yesterday so relatively few tested positive.
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Palestinian terrorists used Molotovs, IEDs, and “rocks” to try to murder Israeli men, women, and children on Road 465 beside Deir Abu Mash’al, at Huwara south of Shechem, on Road 458 near Al Muayyir, between Migdalot and Tapuach, on the Road 55 Bypass Road near Nabi Elias, at Lupine Aia northeast of Ramallah, on the road to Ma’ale Levona, at numerous places on the Jerusalem-Gush Etzion Road, and at a myriad of other locations.

Political maneuvering . . .
Benny Gantz’s Blue and White Party merged with Gideon Sa’ar’s New Hope Party last night. According to a press conference announcing the agreement, Gantz will be number 1 on the list, Sa’ar number 2, and another former IDF Chief Gadi Eizenkot will be number 3.
Like all leftist parties in Israel these days, this new party says that it has formed to reclaim the center in Israeli politics.
The merger is a life jacket for Sa’ar. Recent polls show his New Hope Party not receiving enough votes to get into the Knesset. On the other hand, the utterly incompetent Gantz gains someone who will fawn all over him as “the man to lead Israel and save Israeli democracy.”
The next poll will certainly show a bump upwards for the new party which will almost certainly fade by election time.
An update from the Netanyahu trial . . .
As we have reported, the Netanyahu trial has moved to the cigars/champagne Case 1000 with the state witness Hadar Klein testifying about what was given to the Netanyahus.
What has evolved in the last few days is that Klein has little evidence to support her testimony which often is merely hearsay.
Few receipts and invoices: according to Klein, it’s “hard to find” paper to back up her claims about the Netanyahu’s gifts.
After the disaster of Shlomo Pilber, the state witness in Case 4000 who actually fabricated the meeting at which “bribery” supposedly took place, Klein’s revelations are suddenly suspect.

Ominous Signs
With the arrival of President Joe Biden only two days away, there are a host of ominous signs popping up everywhere.
1. Egyptian President Sisi and Israeli PM Lapid have agreed to arrange a tripartite meeting with PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Laying the foundation of an Israeli Concession Conference?
2. The Americans have asked Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Israel to match the $100 million grant that the Biden Administration will announce for “Palestinian” hospitals in “East” Jerusalem. Dividing Jerusalem by establishing facts on the ground?
3. According to reports, “Defense” Minister Gantz is apparently preparing a list of illegal Palestinian settlements in Area C which he wants to “legalize.” Establishing more facts on the ground?
4. A additional list of concessions to the Palestinians has been prepared for presentation to Biden. The Israeli Concession Conference again?
5. Peace Now has hung PLO flags in Tel Aviv to welcome Biden to Israel. Conditioning Israelis about what is to come?
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
