The Silly Video of the Day
The two government officials were on a tour of the southern Lebanon and stopped by the border to throw rocks at Israel.
The Photo of the Day
What you see is the partially unearthed 2.5 meters long tusk of a straight-tusked giant elephant that roamed the coastal plain of Israel during the lower Paleolithic period some 500,000 years ago. This tusk–the largest ever found in the Middle East–was discovered at Kibbutz Rabadi near Gedera.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
Palestinian terrorists using “rocks”, Molotovs, and IEDs attacked Israeli buses near Pondok and between Yakir and Ravva.
Palestinian terrorists using “rocks”, Molotovs, and IEDs attacked Israeli motorists near the small Yitzhar Junction, near Akbara, Anta, south of the Leh Crossing, on Route 60 near Luban a-Sharqiya, and at numerous other locations.
Palestinian terrorists threw Molotovs at the security fence at Psagot.
The World Happiness Report . . .
The United Nations has produced it annual list of the world’s happiest countries based on data from 150 countries.
Happiness criteria included such indicators as “a high and healthy life expectancy, GDP per capita, social support in times of need, a low level of corruption, high trust in the social structures and a high level of generosity in the community.”
These are the top 10 happiest countries in order: Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Israel, and New Zealand.
So never mind daily terror, horrendous traffic jams, exorbitant costs, and, and, and . . . Israelis are very happy.
Speaking of being happy . . .
Israeli parents are rejoicing this morning because the threat of a teachers’ strike is gone.
Some issues such as holidays and work times have been resolved; however, negotiations continue on some of the financial issues. Basically, teachers’ salaries will rise about 30%.
TODAY’S BLOG
“A Sign From Heaven”
Yesterday we reported how “Defense” Minister Benny Gantz’s legion of razers, swooped into Ramat Magron yet again at 4 am Tuesday morning to destroy the meager homes of three families.
In an inspirational show of support yesterday, a convoy of rabbis from Psagot, Kochav HaShahar, Kochav Ya’akov, and Beit El came to the site of the destruction to proclaim the importance of the community.
A few of their comments:
“This is a strategic territory like no other. The people of Israel are called to support this place and receive from its residents the spirit of a love for the land of Israel.”
“Jews live here who love the land, graze their sheep in the land, and manage to preserve about 2,500 dunams in Jewish hands. I call on the people of Israel to come and be a partner, and to give from their hearts and their pockets to the resurrection of the Land of Israel.”
“This hill is located right next to Route 60 which is the main road in Judea and Samaria. This is not some distant place; it is a place that each of us who lives in Judea and Samaria needs to flourish and remain in Jewish hands.”
“The more opposition there is to the place the more it is a sign from heaven that this place is important to us.”
Your humble servant is not sure that Gantz’s psychotic obsession with destroying Ramat Magron and other Jewish communities is a sign from heaven. But whether it is or not, young Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria like Ramat Magron are critically important.
