Photos of the Day
First, the Palestinians receive money from the European Union. Then they begin to build illegal infrastructure (note the illegal road leading downward from the top of the photograph). Lastly they lay out the settlement and begin building houses.
The settlement above is being built on Israeli state land and on private Jewish land, but the government is doing nothing to stop it. It is too busy destroying tiny Jewish communities.
The scene all over Israel this morning:
The numbers:
2.5 million Israeli students began school today (this does not include students in religious schools which began their year last week).
122,000 of these are kindergartners.
177,000 of these were first graders.
136,000 of these were 12th graders.
150,000 are defined as “gifted”.
290,000 are in “special education.”
There are 218,000 teachers and staff in 5,440 educational institutions.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
If you are a regular reader of OneIsrael, you surely realize by now that the IDF has dramatically increased operations in Judea and Samaria. What started as the smaller, targeted operation “Break the Waves” (as in waves of Palestinian violence), has morphed into a daily and nightly operation to root out Palestinian terrorists. There is now talk of a full scale assault on terrorists in Judea and Samaria.
Yesterday, our troops cornered and eliminated two well known terrorists: Samer Mahmoud Suleiman Khaled in Balata, and Yazan Afana in Al-Bira.
Palestinian terrorists tried to kill Israelis with IEDs, Molotovs, and “rocks” on Road 90 near Yatev in the Jordan Valley, at Huwara south of Shechem, at Ma’ale Amos, between Hatmar Shomron Square and the large Yitzhar Junction, between Al-Khader and the Beitar Junction, on Road 55 near Azzun (child was wounded), between Azzun and Katab among other places.

The absurdity of terrorist hunger strikers . . .
We now have the case of Islamic Jihad terrorist Khalil Awawdeh who has been on a hunger strike (he still drinks fluids) while in administrative detention for the last 180 days.
Now that he has been moved to a hospital and his situation has deteriorated, he has made a deal with the prison authorities.
He will end his hunger strike in return for being released on October 31.
The prison authorities say that his release is justified because “he has pledged in writing that he will not return to terrorist activity.”
Can you believe this?
All a terrorist has to do to get out of prison these days is to stop eating and promise to not return to terrorism.
Which of course he will do the minute he gets out of prison–as so many others have done.
As you can imagine, Islamic Jihad issued this statement: “The victory of the hero Khalil Awawdeh over the occupation after a firm stand that was legendary proved that a fearless Palestinian desire will defeat the entire Zionist entity.”
Other snippets of news . . .
Israel announced yesterday that 4-engine aircraft such as 747s will no longer be allowed to land at Ben Gurion Airport as of March of next year–because of noise pollution.
The price of milk rose by 4.9% this morning.
The new entrance to Jerusalem opened yesterday, and what do we have this morning? Huge traffic jams at the entrance and exit points.
The Supreme Court inexplicably rejected the appeal of Amiram Ben Oliel–the Israeli who has been falsely imprisoned for a fire at Duma and the resulting deaths of three members of the Dawabshe family for the last 7 years. This rejection came even though the Court acknowledged that Ben Oliel’s confession was obtained through torture.
TODAY’S BLOG
“yes I said yes I will Yes.”
“yes I said yes I will Yes.”
Molly Bloom’s unforgettable words that conclude James Joyce’s epic novel Ulysses.
—–
Your humble servant could not help but think of Molly’s words when I heard about what happened yesterday.
Guess what?
Joe Biden finally answered PM Lapid’s phone call, or rather had one of his minions call our pathetic prime minister.
Of course, Lapid only wanted to talk about Iran.
But after giving Lapid the standard and increasingly absurd line that the U.S. will not permit Iran to get nuclear weapons, Biden launched into the real reason for his call.
And that was to demand that Israel conclude the maritime boundary discussions with Lebanon by the end of September.
Your humble servant was of course not privy to the conversation, but we can easily imagine Lapid’s response:
“Yes Mr. President, yes Mr. President, yes Mr. President, whatever you say Mr. President, is there anything else you want Israel to do, Mr. President?
Or in the immortal words of Molly Bloom:
“yes I said yes I will Yes.”
And oh by the way, the Iranians continue to ramp up their nuclear weapons program.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) revealed yesterday that Iran is now “enriching uranium with the second of three cascades, or clusters, of advanced IR-6 centrifuges recently installed at its underground plant at Natanz.”
Nuclear bomb here we come.
