The News on the Israeli Street
The Novovax vaccine arrives . . .
Beginning next week, the Novovax vaccine–which is not based on mRNA technology–will begin to be distributed in Israel. The protocol calls for two shots given 21 days apart.
Hertzi Halevi chosen . . .
As we noted two weeks ago, Benny Gantz made it official today by naming Halevi the new IDF Chief of Staff.
The dangerous turn of Palestinian terrorism . . .
The terrorist who attacked a soldier at the Beit Anun Junction on Friday belonged to PLO “security forces.”
Two terrorists engaged in a firefight with IDF forces this past Tuesday in Rojiv, a settlement beside Shechem. One of the terrorists belonged to PLO “security forces.”
Last month, three terrorists carried out a shooting attack at a military outpost in Shechem. One of the terrorists was a member of the PLO’s “security forces.”
Also last month, following the murder of IDF fighter Noam Raz, IDF forces surrounded a house in Jenin where the perpetrators were holed up. One of the terrorists was an officer in the PLO “security forces.”
Another terror attack on Jewish worshipers at Joseph’s Tomb was carried out by PLO “security forces.”
In short, the situation is continuing to devolve–as noted by Today’s Blog below.
TODAY’S BLOG
One Attack After Another
Everyday in Judea and Samaria includes one terror attack after another n0rmally targeting civilians ; however, the attacks today have focused on our soldiers.
A bus carrying soldiers in the Jordan Valley was stopped by terrorists in a pickup truck who then opened fire on the bus.
Seven Israelis were wounded (6 soldiers and the civilian driver of the bus). One of those wounded is in critical condition; another person is in serious condition, the rest are listed as “moderate.”
As the terrorists sped away and were chased, their pickup truck burst into flames:
Hours later, 3 more soldiers were moderately wounded by an IED thrown at them near Ramallah.
Shortly after that, terrorists opened fire at Ofer Prison. No Israelis were wounded.
In another attack, 4 soldiers from the Ephraim Regional Brigade were wounded by IEDs thrown at them near Nabi Saleh:
Two more soldiers, this time from Battalion 97 the Netzah Yehuda rifle company were wounded by an IED thrown out of passing car.
Considering the explosive situation in Judea and Samaria in which we have terrorists from the heavily armed PLO security service, and terrorists from Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and PLO terror cells, it is only a matter of time until a large-scale operation will need to take place.
